I plan to play that one next. I think Sledgehammer did that one and they are doing this WWII one which has people extra excited apparently.
I stopped at MW2 back in the day... so I still have plenty to hit up from their back catalogue. But at my pace and them being a low priority I think it's best I just get around to the current gen ones for now. I may never catch up but they're cool for $10 or something.
What single player FPS campaign are you playing?

Re: What single player FPS campaign are you playing?
I still want to play Ghosts (and the Predator DLC).
Re: What single player FPS campaign are you playing?
The Ghosts campaign was definitely solid stuff. Though it ends with a hilarious cliffhanger and I guess it was the real dark horse of the series, not very popular at all... so I don't think it will ever be concluded.
Multiplayer was ass though because of its weird points system. I can't even remember how it went or how to explain it, but it was completely different than CoD4/MW2's system and too complex for its own good.
For another discussion, I've seen some people knock on CoD/BF's progression system, mostly some friends I know that are more into Overwatch and hero stuff thesedays. I mean I guess it's cool you can just jump into those, but I for one still do like the progression and unlocks in the CoD model. I thought Titanfall 2's was perfect. Yeah you're going to be gimped early on by higher level players, but it forces you to get to know a lot of the weapons you might not otherwise touch and it gives me a sense of reward for unlocking more gear/weapons as you go.

I think Team Fortress 2 does the idea of loadouts much better. While there are some objectively better weapons for the most part it's a lot of finding the weapon that supports your playstyle or reflexes or whatever. Someone running stock gear with a good amount of raw FPS skill is going to be just as competitive as someone with some of the drops.

I guess it's just kind of case by case. Like I kind of hated how Halo evolved into the loadout model, though I remember having some fun with 4 and Reach online.

I love Overwatch hard. I could never enjoy TF2 or anything. I mean, obviously Overwatch is meant to be a lot easier to jump into as a noob I think. But yeah. I love it.
I really never played COD mp stuff. Maybe that's blasphemous, but it was generally single player campaigns that attracted me to specific releases in the series.

Nothing wrong with that, that's why I've only played 1, 2, and World at War. I for one am happy to see them returning to it. I really wish 3 wasn't console only (no PC).noiseredux wrote:I really never played COD mp stuff. The only multiplayer FPS I play and still play is UT2K4. Otherwise I like good strong single player campaigns, hence the thread title!

Re: What single player FPS campaign are you playing?
This is one of the reasons TF2 is always so much fun for me. The items are fun for stupidity and flair and all, but the stock weapons are really some of the best in a general scenario. Unless you wanna do the PVE mode, where certain loadouts are more or less required, all the special weapons do is compliment very specific playstyles. Someone with every weapon in the game but not much skill is still going to get dominated by a team with even one good pyro, soldier, or demoman (and I'm usually that pyro, not to toot my own hornMrPopo wrote:I think Team Fortress 2 does the idea of loadouts much better. Funny to see this pop up when I just replayed FEAR a few months back and some of us were talking about it:

You'd think I pitched the guy the article or something haha.
tl;dr The FEAR team had only one AI programmer that crafted its magic. Some wizardry right there.

So I'm checking out the Dishonored 2 free trial on PC to see how it handles four months later... and luckily I can give a positive report so far. I will need to get "outside" of the first initial mission area, since that's where I remember the framerate/technical issues making it unplayable. But so far so good, crossing my fingers! It's also 50% off until April 11th. I have to pass out for the night but I should be able to give this demo a good test run before then, I think you get the first three missions free and your saves/progress carry over if you buy the game.
Even in the midst of all the awesome releases right now, with Zelda almost done for me... Dishonored 2 will be my next main priority if all goes well. I'm sure it will be a top favorite, I just need it to work! And then Prey is around the corner, can't wait to see how that compares.
There are still negative reviews pouring in on Steam and even some with people mentioning a GTX 1060 which is what I have now, but yeah. Figured it was worth another trial with a free demo.
