Gonna finish King's Quest IV tonight and then I begin on Shovel knight which I just bought for the switch. Played the first level and WOW! Great stuff!

Tough to say... helped the frog, dwarves fisherman and bard and met the bad lady. Kings Quest games are overly obtuse in their puzzles, which I will talk about in depth in the games beaten. This is the only kings quest game I haven't beaten because of my childhood incapabilities.fastbilly1 wrote:Where are you in KQIV? I really enjoyed KQIV back in the day (EGA /AGI version). But the easily missed "golden bridle" was total BS.

Not to mention screwing yourself over with the diamonds or missing the worm, or relying on random encounters with characters. I always love the ideas they are going for, but how they executed them are pretty rough, not like any of the other quest games which are more solidly designed.Exhuminator wrote:I really enjoyed KQIV back in the day (EGA /AGI version). Re: What are you playing?
Yeah, I checked out that massive thread and the rabbit hole that it goes into. I also read up on the Reddit and anything about the challenge that I could get my hands on. It is nice to see that no one party is the best one or that anybody can beat the game with any party, so the system isn't completely broken.fastbilly1 wrote:Markies, a 4 job fiesta makes the game very interesting. I tried it once and got three Geomancers and a Berserker... The Something Awful thread that covers it has more data about how the game works than I care to know. Literally 10s of thousands of pages of posts.
I was thinking of doing that challenge, where classes could repeat or one with a wider pool as the game goes on, but I wanted to keep my first one simple. One class per crystal, that is all. That way I might have to use jobs that I don't normally use (Black Mage) and I don't get stuck with an awful like....3 Geomancers and a Berserker. Man, that sounds painful, I'm sorry to hear about your luck.

Re: What are you playing?
Well I might be screwed on that. There was a boss door behind some lava, and I couldn't figure out how to turn off the lava. So I went forward into the next area, and fought a giant mutant skeleton boss. After beating it, the door going backward hard locked, and I don't think I can go back now. I think the upgrades thing just affects the ending you get, is that the concern here?Sarge wrote:Make sure you get all the upgrades. All I'm saying.

Now is the Switch Shovel Knight the definitive version w/ all the add-ons and modes? I want to say yes, right?BogusMeatFactory wrote:Gonna finish King's Quest IV tonight and then I begin on Shovel knight which I just bought for the switch. Played the first level and WOW! Great stuff!
