It's a futile effort. It's a matter of WHEN Ghandi will cause a nuclear holocaust, not if.

There are multiple ways usually it's something along the lines of conquer everything with your military, make peace diplomatically with everyone left, advance your tech to the max, and etc.

I believe the race to space is one of the victory options can't remember if it's just whoever gets to the moon first or if you have ot be at the point of being able to leave earth.

If you want space craft/scifi sid meires beyond earth is basically that.

I started Final Fantasy V on the SNES this evening!

So, I have played the game twice on my PS1 and I basically did the same thing both times. I maxed out all jobs, changed everybody into a Samurai and then I Gil Tossed until I won. Simple enough.

Well, this time I wanted to do something a bit different. I am playing on a Reproduction Cart as this is the Japanese version. I am happy to have the original version and I am curious to see the differences. So, instead of doing my same old thing, I decided to do a Final Fantasy V Four Job Fiesta.

This is my first time ever trying one and I have absolutely no idea what to do or expect as the game goes on. But, I found a website that sends out Random Jobs and I wanted to do a Normal Challenge. 4 Characters, 4 Classes. That is it.

And the first job I got was........

Black Mage!

I don't know if this is good or bad as this is all new to me, but from my previous Final Fantasy experiences....I am scared. I cannot heal, I do little physical damage, have no strength or defense and all I can do is nuke things.

But, so far, it has been going well. I am taking it VERY slow. I am constantly grinding and buying so many items for healing purposes, but I have been nuking the hell out of things and I am happy for that.

I will update my progress in the RPG Playing Thread later on, especially when I get a second class. But, for now, I am scared and doing well at the same time.

So I booted up King's Quest IV for pc and had a shocking moment of realization. This was not the same game I experienced as a kid on my Apple IIGS! The King's Quest IV I remember used the agi engine that all the earlier sierra games used.

The PC version uses the SCI engine that only a handful of titles used like police quest 2, and the first two quest for glory games. The big improvements are an increased color pallette and a parser that stopped gameplay when typing.

This was the big improvement for me as I remember struggling with the time constraints as a kid. This game was super tough, but now I feel like I can handle this! Let's do this!!

Black Mage is one of the better first jobs imo. It combines well with lots of the later jobs, guarantees you some sort of Magic offense (I've had a completely magic-free job list before), hits like a truck when needed, and isn't too hard to manage the early sections of the game with, once you get the fire spell. It also doesn't require going out of your way for most of it's best spells or equipment really, unlike the Summoner or Blue mage for example. The only better first job would be Blue mage imo, because despite it's annoyance in getting abilities, it is one of the msot well-rounded jobs in the game.

My only completed FJF run gave me one of the worst team compositions: Thief (no power, limited useful skills in battle, lack of available weapons before early bosses), Berzerker (can't control, really limited use), Geomancer (reliant on spell lists which change per dungeon, lots of luck involved, despite seeming like a magic class all spells are physically based) and Dragoon (technically not that bad, but doesn't combine well with the rest of the team, and Jump would leave all the squishy guys left behind whilst making my most armoured character avoid hits).

I think a weaker team can be more fun. My second run gave me Black Mage, Mystic Knight, Bard and Chemist, which whilst being an incredibly powerful team, takes a long time to kill stuff outside of black magic. I got a bit bored and didn't finish that run.

If you're in the mood for hints, here's one for your black mage later:
Buying a fire ring for your whole team is expensive, but lets your black mage function as a healer. A Firaga will bring a party member back to full health with a fire absorbing ring or shield for most of the game.

I think the Black Mage will REALLY help later on in the run. I think it will be slow at the beginning, which is fine by me, but I think it will really help to have somebody doling out Magic Damage at all points. I am especially excited to have spells like Flare at my disposal at any time.

I was terrified of getting thief as I heard they were pretty terrible. I also was afraid of getting Blue Mage mostly because I know NOTHING of them. I don't know where any of their spells are or how to get them, so I'd have to figure all of that out from scratch. I was kind of hoping for Knight as that is how I mostly play Final Fantasy games and a White Mage would be very nice in the long run.

But, the Black Mage is putting me out of my comfort zone. I am using magic at all times, which is a welcomed change. I am learning weaknesses and which spells to use. I am noticing that FFV's magic is actually powerful and not terrible like some earlier Final Fantasy games. And that is a wonderful tip and will be VERY helpful later on in the game. I am terrified of not having a healer or somebody that can take damage or deal out physical damage. Hopefully, I will get those later on with other crystals.

Markies, a 4 job fiesta makes the game very interesting. I tried it once and got three Geomancers and a Berserker... The Something Awful thread that covers it has more data about how the game works than I care to know. Literally 10s of thousands of pages of posts.

Yes. Absolutely. I mean, the game actually managed to rip me away from BotW. That's saying something.
