So what have you guys been watching lately?

Elizabeth Banks IS incredible. But, you know, neither the movie nor the TV series really took themselves seriously on any level...

And Bradley Cooper and Amy Poehler were still pretty darn great together, even that many years later.

+1

Also, I found the series to be deeply funny, and I agree with the recommendation.

nothing about WHAS or any of The State offshoot movies should be taken seriously. That group of people has been my favorite comedy stuff since Junior High when they were first in - ready for this? - You Write It, You Watch It. I have always kept up with the movies, shows, books, podcasts, comedy albums, etc that they are all heavily involved in. I even have the rather rare Stella Skits DVD that they only sold through their website. At a time that was the only way to see the skit "Dickfish" which wasn't on the site.

Did you guys see They Came Together? It was another State-movie, with Amy Poehler and Paul Rudd and is a total ridiculous take on Rom-Coms. Hilarious. Like... they meet when they both wear the same costume to a Halloween party. (The costume: Ben Franklin).

Anyway, next they're doing the Wet Hot American Summer sequel - which is what they should have done a long time ago... remember when they say "guys let's plan to meet here in 10 years and see what kind of people we've turned into"? They're finally doing that.

EDIT: Fast beat me with his edit on that last part. But yeah, the joke was instead of doing the sequel like we thought they would, they did a prequel even though they were all way older and it was dumb to do so. But yes, Elizabeth Banks is fantastic all the time.

Wow I am in the minority here.

The movie was quality, but the show missed on every mark for me: Pacing was up and down, the multiple sub plots that went no where or had no resolution, the painfully obviously purposefully placed anachronisms (sans the iPhone scene in the courthouse, that was gold). I powered through it hoping it would get better, but if anything the show hurt my enjoyment of the movie itself.

I don't remember any of this in The New Three Stooges.

It was the episode about a summer camp. Larry finds out the Government is doing testing in the area and drops toxic chemicals in to the ground, which causes us go through Curleys like Spinal Tap goes through drummers. Moe has to testify on Larrys behalf at a trial and thats when the iPhone shows up.

I agree that the show was not the same level as the movie. But I did enjoy the show. That said I watched it once. I've seen the movie far more times than I can count - have even watched the multiple commentary tracks more than once. Including the Fart-track.

I think the show definitely had some great moments, but on the whole I did find a lot of the comedy rather heavy-handed to the point of actually not being funny at all. But even the State was pretty polarizing. Though none of the scenes from the show are as good as the best State stuff.

Just about done watching Iron Fist, I can't tell if it's terrible or just not as good as Daredevil, Jessica Jones, and Luke Cage?

Either way, the only reason I'm still watching is that I intend to watch the Defenders and don't want to be out of the loop on the state of events.
