Adventures for consoles

Post by blue_veilvet »

Hi,

I'm looking for funny and enjoyable adventure games for consoles. I know that this genre is typically found and designed for PCs, but currently I have no comfortable access to a Windows-PC, so I'm looking for games for the NES, SNES, Sega Master System, Genesis, PS 1-2, Gamecube and Gameboy (Color/Advance). I'd also like to know if there is mouse-support for the consoles/games.

I'd be really glad if you guys could help me out :)

I would make a quick note on the X Files game. It does not like being run on the PS2, so if you want to play it, use a PS1.

Pulsar_t got most of them. There's also DejaVu, Shadowgate, and Uninvited for the NES. Those were ports from the Mac. Star Trek 25th anniversary was also ported to the NES. And there was a port of King's Quest V, but the graphics are really bad.

If you have access to a non-windows PC, there's almost certainly a port of ScummVM or Dosbox you could play some great adventure games on. I know there's a build of ScummVM for the Gamecube if you can run homebrew.

How I love this forum. When I opened this thread, I had no clue, and found nothing like a list of console adventures anywhere on the net.

And now I don't know where even to start!

I'll definitely take a look at the title's in Pulsar_t's list.

Also thanks for the ScummVM advice, I got it running on my Fedora machine (the first time I actually have sound on Monkey Island 2).

I'm looking more for the actual game mechanics of adventures, but I think Psychonauts would also be interesting nevertheless.
