I guess it's extremely tenuous calling it an RPG but I just finished 'For the Frog the Bell tolls' English translation. Enjoyable for the constant poking fun at RPG tropes.

On the one hand yeah, not sure I'd call it an RPG. But let's not get onto that track again...

On the other hand, I fucking love this game. So fun and inventive and the music is so good. That we never got it back when is a travesty, but I do wonder if perhaps we got a better version of it now it's been fan translated, as opposed to a shoddy early 90s localization.

It might of been one of the few cases where they thought about upping the challenge of a final boss. He was little more than an interactive cut-scene....what's weird is that I waited a month to resume this game at what turned out to be 95% complete.

Why the hell did I think it would be "fun" to replay Dragon Warrior II.

You haven't even reached the "fun" parts of the game yet. You're still in the part where it pretends like it might be fair.

Hey, I beat that game on NES many times.

(And yeah, it's not necessarily fair. The best strat is to run from everything on the final approach, both from a preservation standpoint and an MP conservation standpoint.)

I do need to get back to that playthrough I had going on SNES. I got roughly 2/3 through it. The patch is pretty rough around the edges, though.
