Yeah, I can't defend that aspect of the game at all. It would even hit you mid mission. I think it was easier to manage later on, maybe you could travel faster or had something to suppress it, more pills, etc... it's been awhile, but yeah. I guess I loved everything else about the game enough to keep going.Fragems wrote:The only thing that kept me away from Far Cry 2 was the Malaria element. I'm not sure if that goes away later but when I was younger that was a real turn off having to manage those effects with the attacks.Xeogred wrote: Anyways I should have said this in my last post, but I would actually compare Far Cry 2 to STALKER. Hopefully that sums it up enough how vastly different that game is from the norm. I can elaborate if needed, but I know it has some fans here.
From the WikiThe player will get malaria attacks every 30-40 real-life minutes. When one happens, the screen will take on a yellowish tint, and everything becomes blurry. In addition, the player is momentarily unable to sprint or jump until the yellow fades. If he chooses to not take a dose of medicine, he will have 2 or 3 more attacks. If the player still has not taken the medicine, on the final attack, the character will fall to the ground and become immobile until he takes a pill. If he has run out of pills then the character will open up his empty bottle, stare at it in disbelief and then pass out, only to wake up in the church in Pala or the medical clinic in Port Selao. During or after the attack, the player can take a pill to relieve the symptoms temporarily. The player can choose to hold off from taking any medicine right away. If the player has lost health and has syrettes available, they must replenish their health before they can take a pill.

Started up Song of the Deep today. That game is really pretty and fairly fun so far! Not sure if I'll keep up with it, because I gots schoolies goin' on right now, but I'm glad it wasn't just all hype.
I also picked back up Tales of Innocence yesterday. Still quite fun! Still fairly though on the bosses. I'm doin' pretty darn well on my reading comprehension, I feel. I understood a joke 100% in one of the skits earlier, and I was very proud of myself

Started up Mirror's Edge Catalyst and it feels kind of meh so far. I can understand why it's already sub $10 on sale. While the open world is cool I find myself doing a ton of backtracking to the same locations over and over again

You aren't the only guy I know that can play multiple Tales games back to back. I guess there's just something about those games that clicks for some and not for others, I'm finally going to accept that the click never happens for me. Destiny 2/Eternia seemed fine until Undine, but I'm not sure what I was thinking starting up anything before Zelda.
@Fragems: Yeah that game really came and went fast... maybe not Halo 5 fast though. I liked the concept of the first game though, I'll check it out someday.

Re: What are you playing?
Oh, I can't do like ANY RPG series back-to-back. I've beaten/played like a dozen or more action games since finishing Hearts in January. If they're in English, than maybe, but playing one in Japanese is just so mentally draining for me. I just wanna turn my brain off and beat stuff up for a few hours when I'm done with a non-English RPG, even TalesXeogred wrote:You aren't the only guy I know that can play multiple Tales games back to back. Started Song of the Deep yesterday. It's pretty good fun! It's not quite Axiom Verge as far as Metroid-likes go, but it's very pretty and has very nice presentation. The combat isn't terribly interesting, and it's a little easy, but it's fairly fun. I think I'm a little under halfway through, because I've faffed around looking for extra goodies quite a bit. I just don't think a game where you fly around in 360 degrees can have the same combat depth as a proper platformery Metroid-like.
