I REALLY want the extra horsepower for PS VR.

I'd hold off and see if and how it improves the VR experience first...

I probably will. I mean, it doesn't even come out until a month AFTER VR, so clearly VR will work fine on the vanilla PS4. I highly doubt Sony would release a major peripheral knowing it's doomed to fail with critics because the stock hardware can't handle it.

So, here's a question. I'm all but decided to just grab a slim or OG PS4 on the cheap, but I'd probably have to do something about that hard drive... how well would 1.5 TB fare? The size of those games are mind-boggling, but I figure if I keep the original .5 TB one, the 2 TB together would do well enough for me.

I'd say about ~10 or so games easily taxes out 500TB. At least for me, and that includes having literally nothing but like PT downloaded and on it otherwise. I think these things should come standard with at least a freaking 2TB HDD.

So yeah, go big on the HDD if possible if you plan to play more than 10 games or something.

It might work and be wise if you don't already own one. But I've seen 4k tv's on display next to regular ones at bestbuy and honestly I couldn't honestly tell you the difference between 4k and our current standard of 1080 or whatever it is. We're at that point that the line is so blurred between these upgrades that it just feels incremental that I don't know how anyone can tell the difference. I mean i could tell a difference between 480, 720, and 1080 but now Unless there's some major power difference I don't see a reason to go for pro...

The bigger thing will be HDR over resolution, but they're only starting to really push for that recently.

That's really the main "problem" for me though. 4k Ultra would be nice, but it'd mean a new TV, possibly a new receiver, new console (or consoles, since the PS4 Pro doesn't do 4k Blu-ray for some reason), etc. It's a much bigger sell than one device.

IMO, the extra $100 would be well worth it if buying a first PS4, since over the course of ownership it'll probably be nice to have. $400 as a replacement? Definitely a wait and see. By the time games are patched or there are must-have enhanced titles, there could be another revision, or at least a nice bundle.

M2 is porting Dangun Feveron and Battle Garegga as part of their new ShotTrigger series. Probably even more good stuff to come.

I really want the texture enhancements, especially for PS VR, but until I get definitive confirmation that Nyko's data bank works with the Pro or they make a new one for the Pro OR Sony finally joins the rest of the industry and supports external HDDs.

External hard drive support is finally here with today's 4.50v update. For the price of a one TB drive I could get 32 gigs worth of Vita memory space! #neverforget

Pro-tip/reminder - Sony's USB ports are so finicky. Kept giving me an error that my device wasn't supported when i went into devices, into the "recognized" Seagate 4TB external drive and tried to format. I was pissed, and ended up putting it into my laptop for just a couple seconds to "recognize" there. I don't know if that kickstarted it or what, but I plugged it back in and now it came up fine - formatted away and now for the first time in 3 years i'm putting Plants vs. Zombies Garden Warfare back onto an active drive.

Yep, I ordered an enclosure and turned the 3.5" I had in my original PS4 via Nyko's Data Bank into an external for my PS4 Pro. Storage capacity jumped from 1 TB to 6 TB.
