Re: Pokémon Go (Generation 2 out *NOW!*)
Keep on trying Tanooki. You can hold a gym. I believe in you.
Re: Pokémon Go (Generation 2 out *NOW!*)
Actually around my area here they always seem to be maxed out or if they're not the hump to get over to get in is crazy. I usually see the low end around 2500-2700 with the upper end being 3000-3200.
Re: Pokémon Go (Generation 2 out *NOW!*)
Some gyms here also range from 2500 to the 3000s at the very top. I'm just lucky to have picked the right team. Valor owns this section of the county, but downtown is another story, Mystic and Instinct all over.
I'm still in 15 and stopping there for now because my potions are abysmal and I only have around 7 Max Revives left.
BUT, the new version 0.59.1 is promising a random evolution item on the 7 day streaks for good!

Re: Pokémon Go (Generation 2 out *NOW!*)
See, I've picked the most popular team where I am too (Mystic), but that's exactly why I can't get on a gym. Every gym has ten 2600+CP pokémon clogging them up, so there's never any space for me to add mine, and equally, they're way too hard for another team to take down.ExedExes wrote:Some gyms here also range from 2500 to the 3000s at the very top. The gym system is crap.
Re: Pokémon Go (Generation 2 out *NOW!*)
There's your problem, it's a valid complaint but I guess I'm just more vocal about it because I also have the lack of any good solid coordinated team building in this area. It's more like some mad max wasteland or something where you get a pod of people maybe in an apt complex or job area which happens to have a gym or two right in the radius. They can just plop their asses there and keep it locked down. I know of some in town that have been consistently held since the game went live because of it, and various others(many annoyingly) that are almost as tightly held around churches, schools, etc that rarely if ever switch color and if they do the locals get pissed and lock it back down when they're caught in a moment of apathetic laziness.
Sure I could just dust farm my Rhydon, Snorlax, and a few others to maximum per my level, but that won't get me too far I don't think at 27. My charizard is capped around 2150cp for my level with a full arc. I know my Espion could go notably higher as the arc is in a nice spot and it's still in my top 7~ list. I have a vaporeon well up there as well over 2000. My issue is caps as a secondary just because of my level. I know I have some in the higher teens that could do damage with some ice attacks I have but the time and dust involved I don't bother(forget mostly) to do something with it.
This is why I just like the collect and grow what I have at my pace or I'd erase it as the team mechanic doesn't work in my area, the lock downs are hardcore long termers, and those that aren't they usually roll around 2500cp+ which I'm not at so I can't get in by luck IF there is a spot and not all 10 are loaded within already.
Problem is, how can you fix the gym mechanic? I don't think they force ejecting people after X hours would do anything but piss off the hard cores probably into a whining quit rage from playing.
If you're curious not going to detail this entirely but:
2337 - Rhydon
2293 - Snorlax
2135 - Charizard(max CP capped)
2072 - Gyrados
2004 - Vaporeon
1890 - Venusaur
1852 - Espeon
1710 - Flareon
1654 - Blastoise
That's my top10, the turtle there I earned on my b'day back on the 10th after months of candy walking. He's got water gun and hydro pump and amazing-def-wow and nearly maxed too (5% of arc left.) That Espeon though I'd eye it out at 80% of the arc at 1852 with confusion-psychic also amazing, def, wow too which is very nice. Rhydon/Snorlax have about 10-12% of their arc to load up yet 4000 and 3500dust to level at this rate on them.

There's a new event starting today, Water types will be more common.
I only need a handful of water types, but the opportunity to maybe find some of the few I need will be nice.
Water types I'm missing that aren't region locked are:
Totodile
Croconaw
Feraligatr
Lanturn
Politoed
Slowking
Remoraid
Obviously Slowking and Politoed are just waiting on me finding a King's Rock or 2, but the chance to get or make progress towards the other 5 is nice.
I hope we see more of these type based events. I could really use one for Normal types, and bug, fire, fighting and fairy wouldn't go amiss either...
Re: Pokémon Go (Generation 2 out *NOW!*)
I see level 10 gyms totally taken down all the time. I lost one that I was in this morning that was at Level 10, it had a 2467 Exeggutor of mine, and the range was 2464 to 3029. Mystic has it now. I was in there since Feb 20th, but the gym itself lasted at least since the beginning of this year so we may be getting it back.alienjesus wrote:Every gym has ten 2600+CP pokémon clogging them up, so there's never any space for me to add mine, and equally, they're way too hard for another team to take down.
The gym system is crap.
There is a gym overhaul coming later this year, it was one of the three major updates announced by Niantic not too long ago. No details on it yet.
There is also a new "water event" starting from today to the 29th. More water types will be found everywhere, as well as their evolutions, and in spots where water types are common, you'll see even more.(already announced by AJ) That's great news as I'm about 70 candies away from a Gyarados.
We're doing top 10s?

Re: Pokémon Go (Generation 2 out *NOW!*)
Seems we're not too drastically apart on amazing level top10 numbered CP critters, so I do think the problem also is the broken gym system and regional assistance based which plays against my ability to take anything anymore.
I welcome that water event. I got finally an amazing totodile yesterday instead of the usual C or D level crap, so candy farming is a good move. I have a king rock or two, so I think I could get my slowpoke to a King since I kept a spare for that. Perhaps more candies for my nice tentacool and cruel I have (they're icy with blizzard.) Missing water types would be nice from gen2 as well, as would more squirtle candy as I have another wartortle rotting on the list.
Oh and the only lousy rank one in my top10 is that gyrados, a really screwball WILD find early into the game playing last year. It has just twister and bite I think, but it does seem to do some damage so I keep it around. I think it's around a C rank overall without looking into opening the game up at the moment again. The rest, none are 100% perfect, but some of them are like one stat off that, all would be considered A and A- level stuff.

Re: Pokémon Go (Generation 2 out *NOW!*)
There's a water event coming up? Sweet!
As for gyms, I've currently got three. There aren't that many around here, so I'm pretty happy with that, actually
Gyarados is stationed at an out of the way church, I've got a Vaporeon that's been in a gym at another out of the way biking trail entrance and the last one is in another Trail gym that doesn't seem to get too much traffic. Kinda surprised with that last one, honestly. It's located near Downtown, and I knocked it down pretty consistently on my Friday walks. Having it last a day or so was good for me, but reinforcements must have surged one day after I took it over from Valor, cause when I went back two days later it had jumped to Lvl 7. It's been up to Lvl 10 for two weeks now.
Oh, and are we doing Top Ten lists? Okay:
