I got all of my ancient armor fully upgraded last night as well as the house in Hateno. I'm going to finish getting my Fireproof armor fully upgraded and go check out that guy in Akkala, but then I'm going to do the last divine beast and finish the game for now.

The game auto saves right before the final boss and puts a star on the file, so resuming the file will put you back before the boss (so you can warp out and do stuff).

Correct, as I said yesterday I finished it as well as I got motivated to see the basic end game on this before Binding of Isaac arrives.

You get a STAR on your save file going forward. Correct me if I am wrong but your special dungeon picked up powers seem to refresh faster after use. After the ending, the save with the star is wherever you last did it before Ganon.

I stuck around, found 2-3 seeds and did the zelda memory, then floated away to save off property. Right now I have the freedom to relax and enjoy the landscape and have it as a come back to title to see all the area I have not hit yet allowing Link to still grow.

I will end it again, its cool, but if you do not have all 12 memories you get a shorter ending on the game so for me that is a must.

They must make more games like this style of Zelda going forward. No more wide empty areas that are boring. No terrible old save mechanics. No more overkill huge annoying sized dungeons now replaced with the quest to the beast, it, and the boss on it which flows so much better.

I still like the large dungeons. It's one thing I'm missing a little bit here. This is still excellent, of course, but I think both styles of Zelda have valid reasons to exist. And this certainly doesn't invalidate the greatness of previous entries. I still like Skyward Sword, and nothing will change that, even if this is the anti-SS and is also excellent.

You and me both brother. What did you think of my monster sized dungeon idea a page or two back? Like have you explored that cool maze structure in one of the corners? Imagine if that was a more elaborately designed full scale labyrinth.

I've only played Skyward Sword once and can't wait to replay it again. I still like it's more bombastic score as well. The credit roll theme might be the best in all of gaming.

But basically yeah, everything BoTW does it does perfectly. I'll just still have some preferences for bits of the old formula.

Skyward Sword wasn't bad, the 1:1 got on my nerves after awhile with shield mechanics (like having to time stuff on that boss with it and sword...ugh.) It wasn't a bad game, an improvement over TP for certain. But still in time it grated on me and I quit bothering to play it after probably 1/2 through it or so (I forget exactly.)

Either way BotW is the most fun I've had in a Zelda franchise game in a LONG time and I hope they keep it up. Perhaps next time they won't have the raging beast monster and have to make up for that fight having a larger dungeon with some blighty like boss at the end still. Whatever they do, if it stays in this new format I think they'll continue to make increasing epic sales as it's such a fresher and more approachable format to the game franchise.

If they're going to keep going down this road, the weapon durability needs to change. So does the stamina meter. Double what they start you with, at the least.

So yeah I guess on the U you can tally up your game time through the daily log. Looks like I'm at 37 hours.

As it turns out your Switch profile will tell you, but you have to have closed the game first. And it isn't at a high resolution; I think it's in five hour increments. My final time was over 70 hours.

Huh lack of a system manual I guess, but I didn't even know the Switch did rack up an hours clock. I never much liked that thing on their past few systems, especially if I got rid of something I didn't like as it would linger around. :) I should go poking about and find that as I'm curious where Zelda stands right now as I was playing it a lot, far more than I would have committed to a game in a very long time.
