PSA: Disney Afternoons Collection - 6 Capcom NES Game Bundle

Post by Omerta »

Capcom has a bundle of old NES Disney games coming out on April 18th for $20. Similar to what happened with Rare Replay there are new features like rewind, boss rush, leaderboards, etc.

Looks like the supported platforms are PC, PS4, and X1 - with, oddly, no Nintendo machines on board yet.

This will likely be the cheapest legit way to grab titles like Rescue Rangers 2 and Duck Tales 2 for years to come.

You're welcome.

I'll probably hop on this as well, though I'd love to see a Switch release.

I don't know. It's probably cheaper for me to just grab them out of my NES collection.

I'll bite as the one who will be annoyed and confused why this isnt on the Switch or 3DS either. Same game developer, same publisher, same game conversion engine as that Mega Man NES package. Id think we should be given an explanation on not placing 6 NES games on a Nintendo system of some sort.

Id grab this if it comes there, if not, it will be a permanent skip.

Noise and I were talking about this in the Random Gaming Thoughts thread, but this is a Capcom decision, not the developers. They could easily do Switch and with enough pestering at Capcom, I'm betting it happens.

3DS may be a different story though, I recall listening to a podcast where Mike Mika talked about the challenges with Mega Man and working with that system.

If it makes you feel better...the label is damages on my copy of TaleSpin...the price I paid for my copy of Rescue Rangers 2 (i.e., $2) will probably make you feel horrible, however....

I know the 3DS had hoops but it happened, kind of why I'm questioning their reasoning/sanity on the Switch. If you recall they came out themselves weeks before Switch arrived at a developers conference and said they helped design the thing with Nintendo. They are why it has more RAM than Nintendo was going to pay for. It also runs at a better spec than Nintendo was shooting for. And they're the reason why the joycons exist and how they're setup as well (which makes sense with those USF2 videos of them using them going goo goo over it.) It just confounds me how they were so deep in twisting Nintendo's arm into bringing a better product and won that fight (just like the circle pad pro and later integrating to New3DSXL tied to that) and yet ...6 NES games get the brush off.

I'm not even mad, just confused and annoyed by it. All it would take is them saying well the developers didn't get a kit until a month ago it takes time, we'll have it out before E3. I'd be like fine, cool, I'll buy it, a promissory pre-order of sorts I guess.

...and while not intended to that micro sized comment, yes for that price I'm annoyed. It's the one Disney game that always eluded me on NES I never got. I've held onto Duck Tales 1+2, RR1 and Darkwing Duck. My desire for this package primarily lies in not pissing $150 on a NES cart to a reseller.

Not sure I cared much for Rescue Rangers. I get the appeal (especially 2-player), but the games never held a candle to Darwing Duck and the 2 Duck Tales (and my own NES collection reflects that, as I never felt the need to own RR). DT2 was one of my best NES finds at $8, but that was ages ago.

And to echo some sentiments from this topic, what is with Capcom witholding portable support? I mean emulation has us covered on a lot, but I'm still perplexed that Mega Man 9 and 10 never got a handheld release. And the Duck Tales remaster would have been a nice fit on the Vita. Also thought Mighty No. 9 was a Vita prospect, but never saw that happen either.

But then, I still haven't bought Mega Man Legacy for 3ds. Oddly, I've been playing MM games on PS2 instead (I think for the music remixes and Power Battles unlock).
...just another lost soul...
