'course, the mish-mash of "retro" might also just be the point of the ad too.

In case anybody missed that, $79.99 in today's money is $123.80.

That's an absurd price for a game in 1996 though. For comparison, here's a Target receipt from 1994 for Breath of Fire.
From what I remember, $50 was the standard price of a SNES game. At least, a SNES game that didn't contain an enhancement chip or something extra. Depending on the store, $60 wasn't uncommon. I can remember paying $60 and $70 for games in smaller shops, but I never paid $80 for a (normal) SNES cart.

I distinctly remember paying $74.99 for Final Fantasy VI on its release day in 1994. And that's $122.88 in today's money. I bought it at a Walmart.

I at least remember those $70 N64 games like Perfect Dark and Donkey Kong 64.
... or was it $80?

Re: Image Link Dump Thread.
N64 games got up there, though I know for me, Perfect Dark was a matter of both the game, plus the expansion pak. One time purhase, of course, but I don't think I wound up buying any others that needed it.
Re: Image Link Dump Thread.
The only N64 game I can remember being more expensive than the norm was Pokemon Stadium because it came with the Transfer Pak. I think I paid $70 for my copy in Wal Mart. I seem to remember N64 games being $50-60 depending on the store.
