These are all good lists, but I wonder if there's much point making ones for the likes of Wii, DS. PS2 etc? It's so easy to get games on those systems for under £10 it might as well just be a list of 10 of your favourites.

Would definitely be curious to see more lists like the SNES list where it's more of a challenge to find stuff or where the obvious games can be kinda pricy. Saturn maybe? Dreamcast? Master System? Gamecube? Those are good ones to look at for sure.

I'd love to join in on this, but being that I'm in the UK the situation is just too different. Lots of common NES stuff in the states costs a fortune here, whereas some of the SMS stuff is affordable here but out of the criteria range in the US.

In my area, the cheap stuff is anything Atari, Gameboy (that's not Pokemon), and Genesis (but it's climbing).

Anything Nintendo is pretty spend-y by comparison. EDIT - Including Gamecube. Most Wii stuff is cheap though

Around here I can still enjoy plenty at the $10 and under level a lot of common NES games through half price books when they come in as they have a pretty large stack around $3-7, not so many on SNES though. Gameboy (any), Game Gear very easy. Older than NES if it pops up is clearance priced or just over. Stuff that's import and old they rarely know what to do with so it's $5 or less. Genesis more or less much of it can be $10 or less depending a bit on title since the library is more hit and miss than SNES.

The PS2. What can I or need to say about a system That was the longest run of any system and sold more than any system in America. This system was and still is a major topic here on racketboy and believe me you can still either get one free from your friends or buy in a huge bundle with games and controllers for really cheap and have some stellar titles with it.
But if you get a ps2 and only a couple of games here are my top ten games that are under ten dollars. Now I know people will add their top ten because the ps2 has so many games under ten dollars but here is my recommendations

10. ICO.
9. Ratchet and clank series
8. Jak and dexter series
7. Sega 2k5 series especially nfl 2k5
6. Metal gear solid 3 substance
5. Sega genesis collection
4. Mega man/mega man x collection
3. Kingdom hearts series
2. Sly cooper series
1. God of war series

Man looking at the prices and what you get for the prices there are so many games for this that are under ten dollars. I know that there are games I missed but for me these are a good start. I didn't add racing or more rpg's or even the fighting collections but you can get them really cheap.

For anyone who wants a system that has everything this is the system for you. from racing to shmups to arcade etc. For me the two systems to pick up on the cheap is genesis and ps2.
