Whilst I'm trying to avoid spoilers, I'm enjoying getting game mechanic info from you guys. I haven't googled anything on the game yet, so it feels a bit like when I was a kid and had playground discussions with my buddies on where to find stuff in Pokémon, DK64 and Ocarina of Time.

I have had the same thought, But for Zelda 1. I remember the playground discussions of where to bomb to get heart pieces or rupees.alienjesus wrote:Whilst I'm trying to avoid spoilers, I'm enjoying getting game mechanic info from you guys. Five Durian fruits cooked together is another great one, especially for tough fights - full health restore plus (IIRC) 20 temporary extra hearts.fastbilly1 wrote:I found the best recipe:
Go to Faron tower and run around gathering all the bananas you can get. Cook 5x bananas. The dish you get is 5 hearts and the max attack boost for a substantial amount of time. Bananas are so plentiful that I had 80 at one point.
Coupling this an electric sword, I cleared three minor trials of strength in one night. Then I ended up finding the Lomei Labyrinth...thats a whole lot of nope.

So, in poking around figuring out what my amiibos might do in the game... it turns out I can get Epona? Sweet. Not sure I'm going to do it, though, it almost feels like cheating in a game like this.
The mind-boggling part is that I haven't even hit a main dungeon yet. I've done about ten shrines in total, and in a way, figuring out how to get to them is a puzzle in and of itself at times. And it's significantly more organic than the puzzles of the overworld of Skyward Sword.
Don't get me wrong, though, I still love Skyward Sword. This is a fantastic game as well, it's just great in a much, much different way. The comparisons to the original Zelda are apt in many ways.
(I do wish that weapons had a little more durability, though.)

I'm with you 100% on that. The Master Sword can't break, but you also need 13 hearts to get it. I haven't done a main quest outside of the plateau either, and I've put easily 30 or 40 hours in so far. I'm in no hurry to finish, though; this game is a damn masterpiece, and I'm taking my sweet time with it.Sarge wrote:(I do wish that weapons had a little more durability, though.)

Some weapons do have better durability too. And there are a few you get that kinda skirt around the issue. (Trying to be vague).
I'd say I am about 50 hours in so far. Around 25 Shrines and one major dungeon done. Game is incredible, and constantly presents me with wonderful situations that feels so organic, since I always just stumble across them or just see a spot I want to go to.
I want to talk more about the game, but I really wouldn't want to spoil anything, even in a spoiler.

That is excellent. I'm glad that it still looks nothing like a cake. As a kid I wasn't even sure what it was I was looking at.
