Zelda Breath of the Wild - Wii U vs. Switch

- My wife is coming down with a cold, and she went to bed early last night.

- I played Breath of the Wild from 10 PM until 12:30 AM. It was glorious!

That's hilarious. My wife knows it's a party in front of the TV when she turns in early.

My daughter Roz refused to take a nap. There goes 2 hours of potential zelda. I have never wanted to stop adulting more than today. When she goes to bed tonight will be the first time that I will be able to spend more than a single hour to play consecutively.

Been playing it on the Wii U and utterly loving the game. I am only 3 weeks into my Masters and I have like 20 hours into the game. Gonna have to scale that back pretty quickly, but for now, just one more shrine!

Other than I am soooo close to beating Twilight Princess (searching for the first mirror part with the yetti). I will beat TP before starting BotW.

So how close am I to beating TP?

More than half. I think Gerudo Valley is more or less the halfway mark.

There are 2 more proper dungeons after Snowpeak Ruins, and then 2 more areas to do which are not quite as long.

Snowpeak and the two dungeons right after it are pretty great though if you ask me, so at least know that the best stuff is coming up?


On the topic of Breath of the Wild, tonight I finished exploring the area directly east of the Great Plateau at last, and opened up the area north of Kakariko and east of it (Lanayru and Hateno?). I plan to explore Hateno fully before going onto Lanayru (but I did already visit some shrines I spotted in Lanayru as well as found the trigger for some story related stuff there). Trying to keep things as spoiler free as possible even though I'm pretty sure you're basically all ahead of me already

After that rather than follow the map around logically I might just set out in a random direction from the Great Plateau again and see what I find.

Picked up Breath of the Wild for Wii U on Sunday. Already finished the first four shrines, and am about to get the Paraglider. Would've played more last night, but my Gamepad was almost out of power. Good thing I bought this Nyko Play & Charge cable so I can get more playing time.

I'm not sure if I have the warm dublet you guys were talking about, but I have a few stat boosting clothes now. I found the spicy peppers early on though.

Which brings me to something I'm absolutely loving about this one, all the snowy areas and how the temperature changes on those higher mountains. Such an awesome sense of scale and variety. I loved Skyward Sword and we don't need to get into that here, but one of my biggest complaints with it is that it didn't have any snowy/icy levels at all which seemed strange. It's nice to see that and more. And unlike other big open world games, this entire world just feels so varied and alive.

They actually went pretty all out on the weather. There's some peaks that even though they aren't in a snow region they are high enough to drop down a single temperature level. And the desert properly switches between too hot in the day and too cold at night.

Also I think this is like the first open world game I've ever played where the weather and everything feels truly natural and dynamic. I love how it flows. Rain be damned though!

I haven't gotten to any hot places yet, but I love the temperature gimmick foods and all. I didn't expect to love the cooking system as much as I have, haha. It's still a bit odd not getting rupees or hearts from slashing grass, but oh well.
