Since you guys are so much more learnéd than I when it comes to the Intellivision, could one or both of yall PM me some games you'd suggest? If it's as great and unique as yall say, then I definitely need to rectify the Intellivision shortage in my collection.
As for NGPC fighters, I'm actually writing a review of Match of the Millennium: SNK vs. Capcom for the Neo Geo Pocket Color right now. It's going to get posted sometime this week, probably Thursday or Friday, if you're interested.

3DO, at the time, did have better ports of Super Street Fighter II and Samurai Shodown than the 16-bit machines. Other titles were edging towards what the PS1 and the like would really deliver a few years later, albeit at a very high cost. FMV, sure, but also a lot of rudimentary 3D too.
I didn't have one at the time, though I wanted one. Thankfully my dad just pushed PC gaming instead (it was more a practical decision, since we already had a PC).
I bought my FZ-1 more due to that than the library - most of the best of which isn't exclusive anyway.

Gals Fighters for NGPC is probably my vote for my favourite 2D fighting game of all time. And I'm sure fighting game enthusiasts around the world are recoiling in horror.

It is an absolutely fantastic collection, and it even includes a lot of the licensed games. (The names have been changed, but they are still there....including the AD&D games.) Moreover, the collection puts the touchpad to excellent use emulating the Intellivision controller's unique features and copying the games' original overlays.

When you get it, crank the speed up to stupidly fast and watch as the controls still allow you to easily pull off the most ridiculous special moves without fucking up. That's why I love it (besides the fact that it so quick and fun and quirky).ElkinFencer10 wrote:That's at the top of my wishlist for NGPC.alienjesus wrote:Gals Fighters for NGPC is probably my vote for my favourite 2D fighting game of all time. It's been 20 years since I first played street fighter and I still can't reliably pull off the special moves - especially the half circle actions like Yoga Flame. The one and only time I pulled of a spinning piledriver as Zangief is a moment which will go down in legend.... even if it was on a non-moving player 2 character I was practicing on.

MSX. I don't get all the MSX love. I understand that there are tons of great classic games on it, but the scrolling is so chunky and the colors and graphics and blah!

Can anyone explain to me the appeal of the Action Max?

Put down the cheeb, people. The Intellivision and ColecoVision are fantastic as hell.
In all seriousness, I've enjoyed every retro system I've come across. Some are certainly better than others (no one is going to argue that the CD-I is superior to the the Genesis) but I can't think of a single one I outright disliked. For reference, I have things like the Playdia and Loopy on my wishlist.

Just look at that image. You can just feel the scrolling, can't you?

The RF connection hurts my feelings. That's the main reason I don't give my Intellivision, 5200, or 7800 much love tbh.
