GHAGHAH how do these arseholes time their bids so they outbid you with only a second or two to go? Feckers! >_<

Oh well, if it wasn't for losing almost everything I bid on, I would be spending rather a lot of money I suppose!

I hate eBay AND Amazon. Goddamn convenience! After claiming I have will power, I bought two 3DO games, Suikoden, pre-ordered Raiden Fighters Aces, and bought SIX - count 'em - SIX DS games. :( Christ... someone give me the power to not buy another game for the rest of the year!

This is the exact same thing that happens to me. I did manage to snag Wild Metal For $3 shipped, but even that wasn't really a smoking deal, just OK.

All I do now is look for BIN deals, which are few and far between.

I hate eBay because there are few deals to be had compared to Craigslist and flea markets.

I fiance uses www.auctionsniper.com it places your highest bid 4 to 5 secs before the auction closes. Maybe this wil give a edge for your next auction.

I just wish that kind of tech didn't exist to start with, and the auctions were actually fare. You wouldn't see anything like that happen at a real auction!

"Going once to youf for £30....going twice...SOLD! To that other guy over there for £31!"

Sniping is extremely disappointing. But in the end it is like a real auction. You may reach your maximum bidding price, about to get it then someone comes in and bids over you at the last minute. Just bid what you're willing to pay, then ignore the auction until you get an email as it finishes.

There is absolutely nothing wrong with sniping. If you had a higher bid you would have won the item. You didn't lose because of the sniping, you lost because your maximum bid was too low. If a sniper bids $20 and you have a maximum bid of $25 you are still going to win the auction. Putting in bids late or at the last minute (even manually) reduces the possibility of a bid war. And if you are placing multiple bids instead of your maximum bid (or at least the most you are willing to pay) then there is a good chance you are the type of person that might get sucked into a bid war to begin with. Besides if you manually place a bid and someone else uses a sniper, if those bids are the same, the bid placed first wins. I believe eBay has stated they don't have any issues with it, because as I said, the person with the higher bid will still win.
