I think Disciples on PC did something similar as well

If you haven't played Mystaria: Realms of Lore / Blazing Heroes, you're missing out on a GREAT SRPG. The graphics aren't very pretty, but the gameplay is actually darn good.

Tactics Ogre: LUCT
Got 12 hours in now. Made it past the infamous Vyce battle in Almorica (chaos chapter 2's final battle). It was trying, but on my third attempt I figured out a strategy that worked. (That particular fight reminded me of the battle with Wiegraf at Riovanes castle in FFT.) Now I've made it to chapter 3. I've beaten a few battles in chapter 3 already, but I've gotten distracted by the Phorampa Wildwood's optional battles.

Re: RPG Progress Report
Been super busy lately so I've barely made any progress in The Legend of Heroes.
The game's super-linear and I've just entered "Chapter Two." Battles are getting tougher, though there seems to be some level-scaling here on the part of the enemies, so I wonder how much grinding is worthwhile.
I'd ultimately liken the game to Phantasy Star II. 1989 release date, feels like an 8-bit JRPG with a 16-bit veneer.

Re: RPG Progress Report
I've had a liiittle bit of time for Tales of Innocence lately. I'm about 7 hours in now. I JUST unlocked missions, if that helps on where I am at all
I'm really enjoying the characters so far, especially Illia and Sparta. The very exaggerated and mercurial ways they talk make them always a joy to listen to, even when I can't 100% understand what they're talking about. The way they grill Luca is so funny though. The pillow fight skit had me just about dying on the bus back from school X3
Judging from where I am, I think I'm about to get the party member they added for the R-version, like how Gald was the character they added into the story for Tales of Hearts R. I'm in a forest that looks VERY reminiscent of the forest you meet Gald in, so I'm just using that as a hunch.

TO:LUCT
I'm in chapter 3, somehow on the Law/Order route now, don't know how that happened. Most recently I killed Nybeth at Ndamsa Fortress. Still enjoying TO, but it's getting a little stale at this point admittedly.

Don't say such blasphemy.
There are other decisions you can make to change paths. I think there was a big moment with Leonard that did it.

Re: RPG Progress Report
I've had the N64 Tactics Ogre for a good while, but I've just been too intimidated to learn a whole new way to play games on the fly Xp
Maybe I'll watch some LP's of the PSP version sometime to get a more general idea how to play first. That tends to make me more comfortable with playing new strategy games. That's how I learned to play all of my (would be) favorites! (Crusader Kings II, Civ 5, Blood Bowl)
