So do you think the picture quality would be better than my 50 Samsung HDTV? I'll probably still game on my TV mostly, but I definitely want to go all in on the monitor. So quality = monitor and size = TV, haha. It will mainly be nice to have something that has deeper colors, you'd think this Acer monitor I've had forever now would be an old laptop screen or something. It's so dark and muted...

I just have a normal 1080p HDTV, so nothing too fancy.


OLED would be the nice next step... 70 inch... dreaming. lol

semi-finished product. My 2 gtx1070 cards and an m2 ssd showed up yesterday so i will be getting rid of the hard drives and replacing the 980 thats installed currently!

thanks. it is a samsung 32" (i believe) TV. Displays pretty well but there are much better out there.

So whats the current midrange intel chip for gaming? I have a job that is about to pay off and since my new camera fell through, looking at cpus.

i5 6600k is still the current midrange, but the 7th gen desktop chips (Kaby Lake) are due in Q1 2017. More just as a heads up, since they're supposed to be using the same socket type, and are only looking to be a minor improvement. A good deal on a 6th gen CPU still may be preferable.

Is this still the case? Payment finally came through for that job from last year. I game at 720p, but will be building for 1080p - incase I can get a new BVM.

Kaby Lake has practically no performance benefit at the same clock, they're just more power efficient.
We have seen a few titles (like Battlefield 1) that scale well with more cores or hyperthreading, possibly making a case for an i7.

Additionally, AMD's new Ryzen chips are looking really good in early testing. 8 core/16 thread that are essentially going head to head with some of the high end Intel chips that cost twice as much.

it's crazy - AMD has been insanely competitive recently. Their new GPU's power-to-price is impressive. I've long been a pretty loyal Intel/Nvidia guy but there is now some serious reason to consider saving some dough and going AMD in my mind.
