If you factor in Japan a good bit more did hit in 87 if you want to get picky as localization took time. :)

Yeah but they were released in 88 also lol. Doesn't matter those two years especially 87 made video games so big. The master system is out, the nes is full swing, the arcades were still killing it, the Entertainment was awesome, the music, and the mania and the madness were becoming the MEGAPOWERS BROTHA!!!!!!
The Duck Hunt dog is from 1984 on famicom and 1985 on NES. DK Jr is a game from 1982 in arcade, 1983 on Famicom and 1986 on US NES.
You gotta remember this though as for me in general.
None of us had a famicom in 87 and a lot of us didn't get or play these games till 87. Look at the 87 nes combo Mario and duck hunt. I certainly didn't play duck hunt till 87 at my friends house. Also even though donkey Jong and jr was out earlier I never seen the black carts or knew about the black carts until after I found donkey king classics. And didn't that come out in 87 or 88?

If we're being that general then I could say that 2010 was a great year for gaming because I played through and beat Super Mario Bros 3, Punch Out, Mario 64, Kirby's Dream Land, Jet Set Radio for the first time :S

I may be being pedantic, but I do agree. So many great franchises started around 87, and some that had already begun were given great new entries too

I just seen that and every time I do and I hear that crowd I get excited and goose bumps.
It's only a damn shame the way the Pontiac silverdome looks today.
Man I wished McMahon had bought it and restored it as a major wrestling venue and other sports again

I always liked the idea of turning it into a physical Hall of Fame.
