Pretty cool show given its age, nice puppetry/effects, my only real complaint is the male lead (John Crichton) is boooorrrrrringgggg. I wish he'd just killed off, the show'd be better without him.

Back to finally watching some Agatha Christie's Hercule Poirot. Oh yes. Still amazing stuff. And if you can manage to pick up on who the killer is from the start, it's even more fun! Sadly, with the four I watched, I only nailed it early on with one. I almost got one other one, but I didn't take it one step further. Still, you feel like a genius when you get it right. :)

(The one I got right was Death on the Nile.)

Nice. I love that show. I've seen every single episode, and it is simply perfect.

Ahh, duh. Should've assumed blu-ray or dvd.

I never made my mind up on John. I didn't hate him, but depending on the episode I did find him grating. On the other hand, in the... odder episodes, such as dream/in his own head/space weirdness ones I loved having him. He does seem a bit too fit for evey situation for my liking, but the rest of the show overshadowed that for me.

Farscape is a solid 7 or 8 out of 10 overall for me. John is a strange one for the main lead. Pretty much an out of place bro from start to finish.

Scorpius is a major highlight and like a straight up video game villain character ... I think you'd be hard pressed to find anyone like him in other shows. And yeah the practical effects are extremely good, topped off with some cool gore effects from time to time that can be more impressive than even the coolest stuff you find in the old slashers.

Aren't the first 3 seasons even for the BD release, still full screen? I thought I read something about the camera tech they used making a widescreen/remaster basically impossible to make. I just watched the DVD's from my roommate.

Shame it gets cancelled when it was building up to what could have been really good future arcs. It ends on a decent enough note, but surely could have improved and gotten better. My biggest gripe overall is how painfully sappy and repetitive the forced romance gets, dragged out to hell.

FYI, Aerin's actress does a lot of videogame VO work, like Morrigan in Dragon Age. One of the only good characters.

I think he's supposed to act as the conduit for the viewer, representing a normal guy in a strange world, a sort of reality anchor. But the guy is just boring (nothing against the actor, just the way his character is written). The show would have been just fine having nothing but aliens. Especially considering the Peace Keepers look exactly like normal humans.

Yeah, it's 4:3, looks damn clean on Bluray still though.

I've been trying to go back and watch old sci-fi shows I missed. Some of them haven't been good at all. But recently I have enjoyed Firefly, Alien Nation, and now Farscape. I know everyone says Battlestar Galactica is a winner, but damn is that a confusing show to figure out how to watch in what order. There are movies, OVAs, mini-series, full TV series, shit it's confusing. :| I mean I'll watch it someday, but it could been produced with a bit more ease of digestibility. Definitely wouldn't mind some suggestions on good old sci-fi shows to watch. I'm not too keen on Star Trek beyond Next Generation, let me just go ahead and put that out there. I have considered watching Andromeda though.

How about Deep Space Nine? Admittedly I stalled somewhere in the third season, but I was really starting to dig it through the 2nd and 3rd seasons and plan to pick it up again someday (keep crossing my fingers it gets the BD treatment TNG did). I hear once Worf comes in at season 4 and the Dominion War arc starts it gets excellent. I was digging how it gave me Mass Effect Citadel vibes haha, with the space city thing. It has a different flavor than TNG but I think that's something to appreciate about it. And whenever action popped up it was a lot more exciting and cooler than TOS or TNG's... which generally looked cheesy, lol. Don't get me wrong though, I freaking love TNG.

Battlestar doesn't seem as daunting as Stargate at a glance...

I keep hearing good things about The Expanse for something newer.

DS9 is pretty good, but the Bajoran religion stuff never did anything for me.
