Y'all seem to like Immortal. If you want true hilarity, check out their "Call of the Wintermoon" video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-VBdAY8eA9w

We all do dumb shit in our 20s, most of us just don't happen to be on video.

Oh, that's not a music video. That's actually somebody filming them running late and lost while trying to get to their friend Fran's Halloween party.

I used to lurk on Racketboy nonstop in high school (2007-2011 ish). I've been away for a long time and my hobbies have moved off of retro gaming -- at least for now -- but it's nice to see the site is still active and even a lot of familiar users.

King Diamond and Hellhammer (the band) did it early on.

But I think Mayhem was the first "true" (second wave) BM band to sport the look. Could be wrong.

I believe you're right on the second wave with mayhem. I can't remember but I think king diamond caught a lawsuit from kiss mid 80's. Of course mercyful fate predates mayhem, just didn't know if there were others during that time besides who I listened to lol.

Actually KISS was late to the party. Screamin' Jay Hawkins and Arthur Brown used it in the 1960s(and Hawkins was active back in the 1950s, so perhaps even that far back).

Hell, here is Arthur Brown in 1968:

Yes the look is, the music isn't lol. Props to the dude, the look is badass. You actually reminded me I searched my question before and ran into this dude. Thanks for that bit of trivia. I bet seeing this dude in the 60's scared the shit out of folks.

I would say my hobbies have moved away from retro gaming as well, but it's cool that most everyone here is nice and will converse with you on other topics as well.
