Excellent! That is very helpful info!
Can confirm. I did the same thing to two 3-star heroes and he's the only one with a blue aura around him and +1 next to his level. Combining a lower star character to a higher star character of the same type doesn't seem to do the same thing.
Now all we need to test is if that plus goes away when you promote them to a higher star. If not...then you should totally be farming heroes in the daily stuff

But if you ever promote one of those level+ characters to the next rarity tier, they will lose their +.

After all you guys raving about this I decided to try it. It is fun, but it is a bit too "Pay to win" for my tastes. I summoned and got several 4* heroes which are much better than anything 2 or 3 stars, and I faced some 5 star guys in the Arena and they were rock solid (I still won though, because the AI isn't too great and it was a single 5* Mage with some other 2 or 3 stars against two or three 4* on my side).

I'll finish the story campaign for sure though.

I will note that I have not paid a dime and am kicking ass in the arena and with my team. It took time sure, but you really don't need to spend money. Dumb folks make these bad ass teams with tons of money. but you can easily counter it.

I think the campaign mode and the training are the best parts, yeah.

And what is nice is that the arena mode doesn't run on stamina, meaning that you can get your ass handed to you and no big deal.

Bogus, don't you have a 5 star hero though? I have only four 4 star ones so far. I faced a 5 star Camilla twice and she was really harsh. Still haven't lost though.

I have two 5 stars, but I am also in the third tier arena battles. You gotta at least try the arena battles and use your three swords daily. if you win even one match you get feathers. Not to mention the arena quests which help get feathers as well. Having 4 stars at high level will help you. I have a team of four stars that are level 30 and are tackling the hard stuff competently. You must compensate have 4 stars by having teammates with buffs and debuffs and playing to your strengths. It will be a struggle but that is part of the fun.

I again will note I was super lucky to get young Tiki and Tharja as my 5 star heroes. they are supposedly very well regarded. After this week tournament I should have enough to upgrade a 4 star to a 5 star. Now it is a matter of who. Thinking support. I am working with a healer and they are doing amazing. They buff attack at the start of every turn, has good mobility and a great heal.

5 star isn't necessarily a guarantee of much. They'll still get stomped by types they're weak to. AFAIK, that's more the Fire Emblem way in general, albeit with the possibility that attacks will miss in others. In this, the predicted damage can be off if a special ability is up, but otherwise it's very predictable.

What can be more annoying is the time/RNG needed to get a good roster so that you can actually swap characters around to better counter the opposing force.

Yeah the rng in what you get is a big factor. I think I will be pumping up my horse mage Cecilia because she gets weapon advantage against all greys. TAKE THAT STUPID ARCHERER DUDE!
