Be aware when you get into those little microSD cards you're looking at you have two variables to worry about. There's a couple sets of speed classes you need to look at. Sure the storage is nice, but if it crawls in either way for upload/downloading data you're going to be waiting around longer than you'd like.

You first have the class they can be 10, 6, 4 and 2 (fastest to slowest.) Second there's the UHS (Ultra High Speed) class rating on top currently class 1 and 3. The first set of class any old device will be cool with, but the other devices have to know what it is or it's no good to bother.

Probably best just to use this link to get the run down --
https://www.sdcard.org/developers/overview/speed_class/

Currently I have in my Shield tablet which i'm going to dump the data back (as much as I can) to that so I can put it in the switch a Lexar 64GB 300X MicroSDXC U1 I card

I'll be replacing that with a 32GB one I had sitting in my New3DSXL for awhile which is a Sandisk Ultra Plus MicroSDHC U1 I card.

UGH-- throw out my last part of that post, my Lexar card isn't that good.
http://thewirecutter.com/reviews/best-microsd-card/

Everyone needs to see this. That is the top 15 MicroSD cards on the market currently (as of March 2016) My Lexar 64GB is close in read but 1/2 the speed in write to my 32GB Sandisk Ultra Plus card. Screw that. I think I'll just leave it in my tablet.

Their absolute top pick for all things read/write under all forms of use is the Samsung EVO+ 64GB MicroSDXC UHS-1 card. At the time of publishing the card was $45 from best buy and $23(21) from Samsung directly. This is the overall best bang for the buck but not the best performance (just high end of it) and the best is the Sandisk Extreme or Extreme Plus but it's more costly. There were a couple even faster Kingston and Patriot cards on some ratings but tanked hard in others which dragged them badly.

Amazon has the 64GB EVO+ Class 10 UHS-1 card for $27.99 and the 128GB version for $44.88 currently. It's kind of a toss up what you may think you'll end up needing. If the games on the Switch if you buy them physically don't need to install then 128 maybe overkill?

I like the Switch concept and even the design but I won't be getting one. I have no interest. I love my WiiU and while I don't play it a lot, when I do I binge it for a good while. Why no love for the Switch you ask?: It just doesn't appeal to me; I am sure I'll end up with one eventually though.

So it appears eShop purchases will be tied to Nintendo Accounts and not the Switch console itself. About damn time Nintendo!

But they're tied in on the 3DS/Wii U already?

It has been my understanding that you still could not redownload content to a different Wii U/3DS.

When I login to my Nintendo Account, I can see my past purchases but they are also tied to a serial number which I am assuming is my Wii U's serial number. Should I try to redownload that title to a different console, it should not let me.

I could be misinformed, but I believe that is how the system currently works. I guess my original post should have included the "redownload" part for clarity.

How long? How long damnit?! Too long. Finally they got on board with the industry of the PS3 era as I thought they were doing and now it's confirmed. Now I imagine they'll have to do a flash to the New3DS hardware too so they exist with non-system tied goods.

It raises questions.

Games tied to account, cool. Will they honor the steps Sony took and allow a cross buy situation between the both? If I buy or already have (ambassador games) on my 3DS can I toy with them on my Switch? Nintendo you do this I'll actually go out and buy a Nintendo points card, or just slap some money into my account (from paypal) and start snapping up things.

Another question, stuff that is bound to the existing eshop, will this be accessible too? I had some nice (but few) things on that WiiU that's long gone. Their own site index shows I bought the stuff. So maybe?

BMOC: NO you're right, they are tied by that means to the hardware. But it's a faux tie. If you call the company, all it takes is the phone rep contacting someone in their software area with an internal email appeal. Within a day usually(thought they'll say maybe 2) you'll get an email to the account tied to your NNID with a the games turned over to work on whatever other device. It's just a user end block, internally you already have this account which is now being made public basically.

I'm pretty sure you could move it to another device. I just don't think it could be active on two devices at once. It was tied to your NNID and your hardware.

I also believe you could do it without a transfer process, that's just useful to avoid redownloading and snagging your saves.

Partly so. If Nintendo considered said device to be a new version or newer version of a line of product, they won't allow it. When my original New3DS was replaced with a normal 3DSXL I was stuck. I had to call them, talk to this nice lady, she write up a request in email and fired it off saying it could be a day or two (resolved in more like 4-6 hours thankfully) and I could then go into the eShop and re-download everything.

She even said in nice enough not to get in trouble at work terms it was stupid they were blocking it as they're all just 3DS systems and well I agree it is stupid. If you had something the hardware can't support, just block that with a warning saying 'for ... ONLY' it's not that hard.

Sounds like the issue was going backwards. I went from a launch 3DS to a the Fire Emblem New 3DSXL and just did the data transfer option.
