Final Fantasy IX Steam

Really strong beginning but soon after disc 1 content the game seems to already hit the "long not so great portion of the story"

Currently at the other continent.

You're past all the good stuff. FFIX only gets worse from there.

Bone I've been meaning to tell you about a game I think you'd like:

Rune Worth for MSX (MSX version is a port of the Sharp X68000 original.)

This is a 1990 action-RPG that plays similarly to Ys:

There's an English walkthrough available:

I just think it'd be up your alley. (If you don't already have it. )

I've played that game via emulation. It's not bad! Big step up from Hydlide, which is by the same developer.

I don't own a copy, sadly, and probably never will as I lack the MSX2. There's a sequel on the PC-98 I believe.

lol, the I only played once that didn't leave much of a mark (outside of how gorgeous the game looks with late PSX tech). I want to revisit it sometime... but everytime I think I'm close to finally doing that, I decide to play other stuff.

I might start up Tales of Eternia today.

Bummer. Well even if it doesn't get better again it was still worth to play it for those first 4-5 hour's.

FFIX was only good while it was under the direct influence of Sakaguchi. He left its development around 40% of the way in, and you can tell.

It's a surprisingly impressive and well done total conversion of Final Fantasy. Totally redone map, redone enemies, redone music, redone character sprites. If I manage to finish it, I plan on writing up a fairly lengthy review of it.

I picked up The Guided Fate Paradox because I saw it for cheap in a resale store the other day, and I actually think I'll be keeping it. The setting and premise are interesting, and the dialogue is very funny at times and serious when it needs to be. Other than that, it's a mystery dungeon game by NIS, so there's LOTS of (skippable) talking, so if you just want a mystery dungeon game with a few quirks, it can be that as well :)
