Yesterday, 161 Immigrants were arrested in Los Angeles with 75% having prior felony convictions. This is a back to enforcement of existing immigration laws that took place in a joint effort in multiple cities with a stipulation to focus on felony records. A tragedy or justice depending on each individual's history, only the criminals should be deported.

Tragic case of two immigrants - One should stay and one should be deported

What is your take on the recent conviction of an immigrant that committed voter fraud in multiple counties or the immigrant that was here for over 30 years and was deported for a false Social Security card? I have mixed feelings on both and both cases have a bit of tragic irony in them.

Both of these incidents are due to enforcing existing Immigration Laws after eight years of ignoring them.
Should Immigration Laws be amended based on the below circumstances?

Grand Prairie woman illegally voted for the man responsible for prosecuting her

A Grand Prairie woman who was sentenced Thursday to eight years in prison for voting illegally voted for the man responsible for prosecuting her. A Tarrant County jury found Rosa Maria Ortega, 37, guilty Wednesday on two counts of illegal voting. Ortega voted in the November 2012 election and May 2014 GOP primary runoff in Dallas County knowing she wasn't a U.S. citizen, the Fort Worth Star Telegram reported.

"If I knew, everything would have been done the correct way," Ortega testified. "All my life I was taught I was a U.S. citizen." Attorneys for the state showed the jury that she checked a box on her driver's license form indicating she was not a citizen. Ortega's voter registration in Dallas County was canceled in April 2015 when elections officials learned she had registered to vote in Tarrant County. She had voted in five elections in Dallas before her registration was canceled. Tarrant County Criminal District Attorney Sharen Wilson's office said Ortega had tried to register there twice, but her application was rejected by the elections office.

Ortega was sentenced Thursday to eight years and a $5,000 fine on each count. The sentences will run concurrently, said Samantha Jordan, spokeswoman with the Tarrant County District Attorney's office.
A clear case of Voter Fraud even going as far as attempting to vote more then once in the two cities! However, I think the punishment is way too harsh. It is a Federal Offense which usually carry much stiffer penalties. Due to the felony charge she should have received lesser time in prison and of course should be deported.

Mother taken into custody after decades in U.S.

For four years, federal immigration authorities have given Guadalupe Garcia de Rayos a pass to remain in the U.S. rather than deport her back to Mexico. That changed Wednesday, when Garcia de Rayos went to check in as usual at the central Phoenix offices of Immigration and Customs Enforcement. Instead of being released, she was taken into custody, while her husband, two children — both U.S.-born citizens — and a group of supporters watched in tears.

In a written statement, ICE officials confirmed that Garcia de Rayos had been detained based on a prior removal order issued by the Department of Justice's Executive Office for Immigration Review. The order became final in May 2013. "Relevant databases indicate Ms. Garcia De Rayos has a prior felony conviction dating from March 2009 for criminal impersonation,” the statement said.
It was wrong for Guadalupe to obtain a false social security card, but then she was backed against the wall in order to continue employment. Under the Obama administration on relaxed enforcement she was allowed to stay, ignoring the existing immigration laws!

The previous administration has completely failed here on two counts
1. Enforcement of the existing law deporting her when first arrested for using a fake Social Security card.
2. Due to ignoring the law, a continual allowance on every six month check in even though an existing felony conviction.

The current administration completely failed here
1. The purpose of going back to existing immigration laws focusing on criminals is to apprehend true criminals, prosecute and the deport.
2. In the case of Mrs. De Rayos, the circumstances of failed enforcement of existing laws for years should allow her to stay if she only initially used the fake social security card for employment and not for identity theft or benefits. If proven to have contributed to society as evidenced by her years of employment, issue an updated Visa Card with requirement of timely obtaining U.S. Citizenship.

Like the, "Bowling Gteen Massacre," that didn't exist the men referenced were convicted for sending money and guns overseas to terrorist organizations. Others have been convicted for using ieds in other countries. Did we catch them? Oh yeah! That's right! we did! Did anyone die in the u.s from those guys? NO! Let's punish the rest of the sane world for it?

Honestly, Popo put it pretty well: there are a lot of things I am sitting back and reserving judgment on, and a lot of things that I don't have an objection to from a purely theoretical basis, but the implementation has been poor or caused unnecessary hardship to outweigh the benefits.

Frankly though, as a right-leaning member, I'm finding myself increasingly dissatisfied with this administration (to put it mildly), and some moves have left me shaking my head in disbelief or flat out groaning with disgust. I am hoping that some of this is just growing pains; after all, every president makes some faux pas when they enter office. The job has a learning curve. But...Well, there hasn't exactly been tons that I've seen which I have liked.
Thanks Ack, actually this is much easier for me to relate to. I'm not surprised though. I agree as well that Popo was pretty on point with the difference in viewpoints.

I've noticed you have avoided this topic a bit, so I won't ask specifics. However, I am curious about them...should the climate ever feel comfortable for you to share them.

In that case, no. I'm not big on wasting my time talking to robots. I prefer to engage with folks who are willing to question themselves and keep an open mind. Carry on...
Don't worry, that was my last effort to try and engage you in a normal conversation.

Agree the Security measure has caught terrorists in the past. However not good enough based terrorists attacks that still take place. It is not a punishment to the world, it is a 90 day ban to implement the increased security vetting check. All hypothetical, the increased vetting has already started ban or not.

An Interactive Timeline of Islamist Terror Plots Since 9/11
I swapped position of posts for my rewrite and so this important Chart can easily be located.

A continually updated history since 9/11 of terrorist attacks. Let us hope the recent inaction will not add to the chart.

Interactive Terrorist Attack Timeline - http://dailysignal.com/2015/09/10/a-tim ... since-911/

Many of the protesters are too young to remember 9/11; how many have forgotten that day and the terrorists attacks since?

The President having lived in New York remembers. Mayor Giuliani remembers. Some that have lost family members remember. The Democrats in Congress, Seattle Judge, 9th Circuit Judges and protesters who do not remember should visit the memorial sites and people who have lived thru terrorist attacks first hand; perhaps then they would realize the importance of the 90 day Immigration Ban.

In the data below these were the terrorists that were caught and convicted in just the countries on the 90 day ban list. Imagine how many not caught continue to slip thru among the thousands of innocent refugees and immigrants. After the diplomacy meeting Japanese Prime Minister wraps up, a new Executive Order Immigration Ban will be finalized and implemented. Congress do not wait! Get your act together and get involved with this!

Study Reveals 72 Terrorists Came From Countries Covered by Trump Vetting Order

A review of information compiled by a Senate committee in 2016 reveals that 72 individuals from the seven countries covered in President Trump's vetting executive order have been convicted in terror cases since the 9/11 attacks. These facts stand in stark contrast to the assertions by the Ninth Circuit judges who have blocked the president's order on the basis that there is no evidence showing a risk to the United States in allowing aliens from these seven terror-associated countries to come in.

The Center has extracted information on 72 individuals named in the Senate report whose country of origin is one of the seven terror-associated countries included in the vetting executive order: Iran, Iraq, Libya, Somalia, Sudan, Syria, and Yemen. The Senate researchers were not able to obtain complete information on each convicted terrorist, so it is possible that more of the convicted terrorists are from these countries.

The United States has admitted terrorists from all of the seven dangerous countries:
  • Somalia: 20
    Yemen: 19
    Iraq: 19
    Syria: 7
    Iran: 4
    Libya: 2
    Sudan: 1
    Total: 72

According to the report, at least 17 individuals entered as refugees from these terror-prone countries. Three came in on student visas and one arrived on a diplomatic visa. At least 25 of these immigrants eventually became citizens. Ten were lawful permanent residents, and four were illegal aliens. These immigrant terrorists lived in at least 16 different states, with the largest number from the terror-associated countries living in New York (10), Minnesota (8), California (8), and Michigan (6). Ironically, Minnesota was one of the states suing to block Trump's order to pause entries from the terror-associated countries, claiming it harmed the state. At least two of the terrorists were living in Washington, which joined with Minnesota in the lawsuit to block the order.

The information in this report was compiled by Senate staff from open sources, and certainly could have been found by the judges if they or their clerks had looked for it. Another example that should have come to mind is that of Abdul Razak Ali Artan, who attacked and wounded 11 people on the campus of Ohio State University in November 2016. Artan was a Somalian who arrived in 2007 as a refugee.
LESS WE FORGET
More people died in 9/11 then Pearl Harbor.

The Trump plan as it was is needed, but it also needed to be a little less broad so there weren't existing green card and visa holders delayed or screwed over. I think many would agree with that not so much that the pause/temp ban/hold whatever you want to call it was wrong. It never was and never will be a muslim ban, that's just a crying point of the left drumming up more bs instead of substance. That horrible interactive slide bar from Sept 2011 to date showing how few got away with it and how many foiled shows a lot of the trouble came from the blocked nations and also many that were not too.

You guys realize that giving a shit about terrorism is what gives it its power, right? In 2013 there were 12,253 homicides committed in the US. In 2015 there were 44 deaths attributed to terrorism. 9/11, the worst terrorism event, killed just under 3,000 and is a massive statistical outlier. Terrorism is a drop in the bucket compared to what we do to ourselves.

But, Popo, it's worse than all the other violence. I don't have reasons...it just is.

Americans kill each other left and right, mass murders, cults, school shootings, we don't ever need to champion a cause. Why is that?

EDIT: Too slow, you edited the post and Bogus posted all before I got mine up.
