Well, I went back into Gamestop for the first time in a long time. I found Rodea Sky Soldier.

I struck up a conversation with the guy behind the counter. Dude wasn't pushy at all about signing me up for copies of game informer or pre-ordering anything. He said Rodea sold so poorly they couldn't sell a single new copy, so they marked all the new copies as used.

Sure enough, I got a brand new copy of Rodea including the WiiU version, the Wii version, reversible cover, and manuals for both (not that the manuals are anything to write home about) for $13. There was no cellophane, but the disks were brand spanking new - not a single hair, scratch, or fingerprint.

I would recommend you pick this game up now. The has collectability written all over it.
Wow killer price! Gamestop routinely does this on older titles, placing used stickers on the brand new games. I think it is direction from the region and not just an individual store to do the "mark down". This bears repeating, just make sure BOTH WiiU and Wii discs are inside. I think the game had only one print run so all unopened copies should have both discs. The Wii game is well done. Imagine Nights Journey Dreams in 3d environment with spiderman grab the walls. Very very cool.

With the WiiU console no longer produced, the games eventually will go clearance. I saw a stack of WiiU Pikmin 3 for $15 at Walmart.

I posted information on the game a while back. Thanks for the call out, need to pick up another copy!

I think for that, and a few others, the catch will be finding the original releases for the Nintendo Selects price (assuming they didn't roll patches into the Selects ones or something). Otherwise, $15 is nice, but if the game is $19.99 MSRP anyway it's not that huge.

So... when you pre-order something online at Gamestop and you use a gift card to ease the pain a bit... the gift card doesn't show up in your order history.

Did it not work? Anyone have any experience with this?

Edit: Also, are the good about honoring their shipping in time for release day delivery thing if you pay for it?

Edit 2: Would I be better off on Amazon Prime?

For me not a big deal of Selects or not. Selects most of the time are a lower print run making it the rare copy; especially when it has added features and bug fixes. A situation of availability in the case of Pikmin 3, the retail disc version used to be very difficult to find due to the download version. Just like the other two Pikmin in the series, a high dollar out of print years later. Especially since the download will no longer be available when the Nintendo "switched" consoles.

@ samsonlonghair - THANK YOU! Picked up a spare CIB 2 disc and 2 crisp manuals spare copy of WiiU/Wii Rodea The Sky Soldier. Confirmed as seen in other dusty new games on the shelf, Gamestop indeed has retagged all the new copies to the lower used price. The only sacrifice is no shrink wrap, busted out to become eligible as used. For me no big deal, though the OCD in me wanted that red sticker to place on the cover.

Local for a first hand inspection with no shipping charge, a great price at $12.99, if sealed $14.99! :D

Get Prime and stop leaving the house to go shopping. You'll never believe how much you hated human interaction until after a month or two of Prime free two day and then you have to go to the store for some specialty item or something you need right now (such as some putty to fix a leak or something).

So I picked up 3 wii games that were labeled $0.89 only to get charged $2.69 a piece :P. Taking them back tomorrow to get the price adjusted but it's a pain in the butt at least it isn't to far out of my way.

Anyways just be careful and watch when they ring up stuff I usually do, but the guy was pushing preorders hard while checking me out and I got distracted :P.

Yeah, I've had Prime for a few years now. I buy new games so rarely that I only recently found out about their 20% discount on pre-orders and new titles.

Needless to say, I have cancelled my Gamestop order and pre-ordered on Amazon.

Thanks!

Did you make sure they refunded you properly Gamestop is notorious for leaving charges on cards and or screwing up gift card returns.

I actually have to give them some credit - they didn't charge my credit card or the gift card. I guess because it's a pre-order? And the order shows as cancelled on my order history page.
