In Philadelphia the 8th through the 19th

Post by MrPopo »

So I'm going to be in the Philly area for a product rollout for over a week. I get in the evening of the 8th (still waiting to hear back on our corporate travel agent on the exact flight details), will be working Thursday and Friday, probably be free Saturday through Monday, then be hanging around supporting the soft launch the rest of the week and the go live for the weekend). I'm mostly there as a backup in case things go wrong with the standard process; this is a new customer and there's always something different about every customer. But the long and short of it is I expect to have a lot of downtime, in the evenings if at no other time (though as I mentioned, I expect the weekend will be free). So I need suggestions as to stuff to do, which may include hanging out with people who may be in the area.

Take an Amtrak Train (or bus of some sort) and come to Manhattan and visit the Nintendo Store, J&L Games, and Video Games New York. There are a couple of other retro shops but I can't think of them now.

There are a lot of great historical sights in Philly. Visit them briefly so that you can say that you've seen them. Then...go the Italian market, eat a meal, and stock up on stuff to take home with you. Also, grab a cheesesteak from Pat's. Finally, you don't have to run up the steps, but you should visit the art museum. It's one of the country's best.
