Apart from Circle of the Moon and three, four is my favorite of the series. And I know that is because I can actually beat it, unlike three or two...

I love CV4. I know the style is very different from previous CV games, but the music is very atmospheric (and actually well-suited to the always-present SNES reverb), the graphics are nice much of the time, and the game is just well-designed for fun.

@PGchris, if you are playing Dracula X, get a PC Engine ISO and emulate it in Mednafen or Ootake (not Magic Engine, weakest of the 3). The SNES version is not the version that comes before SoTN. It's a gaiden or side story rather than definitive.

^ The music is awesome in CV4, especially those bass lines!

Did you get that secret platform just before you fight Dracula? It gives you a cross, III block, and 99 hearts. Makes the fight much easier!

After you beat the game, if you wait it out, you start back on level 1 under a 'harder' difficulty, you should try that now.

One of my favorite all time games. I actually just went through the game again last week in one sitting and finished in about 2 hours. Konami really did an excellent job creating the atmosphere with the graphics, sounds, and music.

Really? I always thought it was just a poor port of the PC Engine version? I thought the story was the same minus the multiple girls.

From what I read, the PC Engine game wasn't released outside of Japan. So once SOTN was in the makings they needed that back story for it and rushed Dracula X out for the SNES. I don't know where it was I read that, but I'll link this:

http://castlevania.classicgaming.gamesp ... s/dxx.html

That's where I go for most of my Castlevania needs. As bad as that game is always made out to be, I still like it. But I'm also a Castlevania junkie.
