Twilight Hack - 2 days

Post by SpaceBooger »

I have a copy of Zelda Twilight Princess for the next couple of days and have a couple questions about the hack.
If I "inject" games into my wii I cant use the wii shop channel anymore right?

Ok if I can still download WiiWare games and inject my own virtual console games... how do I do it?

I have access to blackcats and the supply of vc downloads and my own rom... I just don't know what to do with my limited time.
Thanks.

thanks!

now I am worried about not being able to purchase future stuff from the shop though...
I only plan on installing a couple homebrew apps and emulators, if i dont inject any downloaded VC .wad then I should be good for buying stuff.

Oh, and what is the chance I brick my Wii?

So who has done the installation of the homebrew and emulators?
Are there any negatives?

I've tried to get the hack to work on my wii, but I have 3.4 and no matter what I tried (I used the 3.4 hack too) it wouldn't work.

None so far, but I've never tried the shopping channel and don't even want to. Played some strong bad and lost winds.

Since this has been bumped and I've successfully softmodded my Wii now, I can say I have had 0 negatives.

I used Softmii to soft mod my Wii and couldn't be more satisfied with the hack. Backup loading from disc channel. Wii game DVD dumping over Wifi, GC backup loading, VC backup loading, emulators and the homebrew channel are all great. I haven't found any games incompatible yet (apart from Samba De Amigo but I think the DVD I used was a DVD+R so I reburned with DVD-R and it worked perfectly)

Since the softmii site seems to be down, would you mind giving a rundown of what softmii gets you, Niode? I've already got the Homebrew Channel installed and I have no interest in playing backups. Is there any reason I should look into getting softmii on my Wii?

There's no reason if you don't want to play backups.

Softmii just does everything the twiizers hack does (it uses it as it's basis) but installs a custom Mios/Cios so that you can run backups and rip retail games without a modchip.

If you already have the homebrew channel you can use the softmii to downgrade and replace the Cios so that you can run backups natively from the disc channel.
