Talk about just about anything else that is non-gaming here, but keep it clean

Don't. They give a lot of terrible games high marks, and a lot of great games insanely low marks...they don't know what they are talking about.
if you are right, then boy am I making a big mistake. I take gamespot's review like the almost the only guide to purchase games, and I see their reviews as the most un-biased and balanced. Sometimes I know they make a mistake(like Gta4 10) , but for most stuff.

What site you think I should follow? I think IGN is too commercial to give an honest opinion

Wow. Use Metacritic as a starting point, if nothing else.

Here's what I do when I'm looking to take a look at a game I have no real opinion of. First, I check out Wikipedia for the game, as the descriptions there can help give an idea of the basic gameplay. Then I'll check out Metacritic, to see how it falls. I generally take a look to see which kinds of sites gave what marks. If the RPG niche sites rate it highly while the mainstream press rates it lowly I'll probably check it out.

And that practice has never steered you wrong?

No one site should be the be all end all. If I'm entirely unfamiliar with a game, I'll read about 3 different reviews. Then check around the forums, to see what the general consensus is about it. This way you'll get a proper understanding of whats happening with the game, and the real problems with the game will arise, and not one single persons (who doesn't even play games, but is just getting paid to write the review) beliefs.

I've seen so many sites low ball Castlevania games, and just rant on and on about how the controls are HORRIBLE. They wouldn't talk about anything else in the review. Now, I understand that the controls in Castlevania games aren't fluid, and you can't move around in midair when you jump, but the game is intentionally designed like that. Its apart of what gives the game its identity. Its a good thing. The game isn't broken, if you know what you are doing, you won't have a problem.

Well , I am not sure because if a game has a score of 8/10 or higher, it must be in some way good. One thing I really regret was Far Cry on the xbox, other than good graphics(back in its time) I don't think this game had anything to it. I simply just run around and the game was over.

What worries more , is skipping on games that might be good but they get too low of a rating that I just don't even bother to look at them. Makes me wonder what am I missing on

Good example: They only gave Blue Dragon a 6/10. This makes me very sad :(
