Nowadays barely 1 hour a day, if that. Usually no time during the weekdays.
And some of you really need jobs and/or lives.
Time spent on gaming
Re: Time spent on gaming
If each mistake being made is a new one, then progress is being made.
Re: Time spent on gaming
Some days I may not play at all or get 30 minutes in or so, while other days I may spend three hours before bed playing. I also play games with my sons once in a while, which skews the averages a bit.
That said, I'm probably the type of individual the topic creator is talking about. I can't say I own a Lynx or a CD-i, but I do own a Jaguar and I wouldn't be against Lynx or CD-i if I could find a few good games to justify the purchase. I have a great deal of games that I've never played, and I seem to add to that list more often than I should. Though I can't refuse my position as a collector to some degree (a collector of good games - and, errr, novelty controllers), the true intention of my collection is to play each and every game. It just so happens I don't have the time to do just that. I figure one of these days I may just tire of "next-gen" consoles and I'll have a plethora of old-school games to enjoy when I retire.

Play each and every game I own, that would be impossible would have to stop working and play all day. Well I think I'm never gonna quit gaming, that's for sure.crux wrote:Though I can't refuse my position as a collector to some degree (a collector of good games - and, errr, novelty controllers), the true intention of my collection is to play each and every game. Re: Time spent on gaming
i am asking this because I DID miss on a lot of gaming(years) I was away, actually most of my life, and now I am making the mistake of trying to play everything good I missed on.
I went through gamespot and other websites and whatever is over 8.0/10 and seems cool I would buy. I bought Wii cause I can play Wii&gamcube , 360&xbox , not to mention arcade and VC. The mistake that made me buy all GTA's(Except 4) and they are all more or less the same.
I usually find my brains about to blow out after 1.5-2 hours of gaming, specially when I do not know what to do or having trouble passing a level or a boss(Last night I was punching my DC controlling cause I had difficulty beating the last boss in Marvel vs Snk2) , so it also ruins my temper . Sometimes I wonder why I keep playing.
Intersting input by all though,
I am amazed at those that can play for long consecutive hours. Maybe you should do something else. And no matter what, do not do my mistake and try to play everything. Play what you thinkyou will enjoy

Don't. They give a lot of terrible games high marks, and a lot of great games insanely low marks...they don't know what they are talking about.kingmohd84 wrote:I went through gamespot and other websites and whatever is over 8.0/10 and seems cool I would buy

I wish I had more time, but with wife , kid, and another kid in may , and work it's kinda tough.
Re: Time spent on gaming
Holy shit. Whatever is eight out of ten? That's not only an inordinate amount of games, but many reviews are poorly made and written and offer limited opinions. I'm VERY open about the type of games I'll play and will play most anything, but I aim for the very best unless it's genres or games that for one reason or another I'm particularly inclined towards. I've honestly gotten to the point where I own the vast majority of systems and games that I WANT to own, with only new games attracting my attention (well, and series where I still need to play the first games in the series before progressing). I can be impulsive (I just bought a game yesterday, in fact), but I DO have limits. Owning everything would be an exercise in futility.kingmohd84 wrote:I went through gamespot and other websites and whatever is over 8.0/10 and seems cool I would buy.
Re: Time spent on gaming
Playing EVERY game is not really possible in a lifetime...unless you cut out all social interaction, work..etc..
I love my video-games very dearly, but I realize that there are many other things in life that need to be tended to. So I have become very picky about which games I spend my time with. Platforming games are where my heart is...and their are SO MANY of them, that if I were to devote my time to playing through each one, I'd feel like a fool for wasting my time with 7/10ths of them, because I would have realized that a small handful of them have done it the best, and the rest are gimmicks.
I play my video-games, they don't play me.

Re: Time spent on gaming
I always buy too many games and never have near enough time to play them all. This really started in the PS1 era. I have about 50ish games right now for the PS1, and I've completed around 10 of them. I probably have around 90 or so PS2 titles, and I've probably beat around 10 of them. The current generation is continuing that trend.
I have about 2 or 3 hours max a day that I can spend on a gaming, and that generally depends on whether I want to skip a little sleep to get some more in. The skipping sleep part gets harder and harder for me as I get older. I didn't mind feeling sluggish and being on the verge of passing out when I was in school, but that's much less appealing when I'm at work. I'm making an effort to maximize my gaming time now. Going to try to stick with games and finish more of them, as opposed to starting multiple games and then abandoning them.

This is what scientists call an elegant solution to a problem.MrPopo wrote:I actually frequently forget to eat dinner. As a result, I spend less time on the can than most people.
