That is a noble, and frightening, goal, Ack.
So, a video game music podcast Keyglyph introduced me to did an episode on the Punch Out! series. Super Punch Out! on the SNES has HORRIBLE music. Some of the worst I've heard on the system. The samples are poor quality and badly used, the compositions are poor, and the interplay between samples and composition are just yucky sounding.
How Is Your SNES Gaming Going?
Re: How Is Your SNES Gaming Going?
I've technically been working at it for nearly a decade, but progress has slowed in the last few years to the rate of about one annually once I got into single digits(there are roughly 40 NTSC-U fighters on the SNES). Funny enough, I beat much of the worst years ago...though not all. It's gonna be a struggle to get through the last three titles, but I figure if I set it as a goal for the year, I'll do it.marurun wrote:That is a noble, and frightening, goal, Ack.

You should consider collecting your reviews and reflections into a web site, or an article or thread here. I'd love to see what your thoughts are about the entire SNES fighting library, especially in summation.

You beat Ultraman; you can beat the last three.

Ultraman gets a bad wrap. It's screwy in how it is setup, but it also is fun in its own way too. I bought that one back in the day and it's a title that arrived before Street Fighter II and shows it. Then again I like rubber monster stuff from Japan anyway.

And then onto Super Famicom I hope? The Yu Yu Hakusho and DBZ series alone make up for like 10 games. Some are good, some are notAck wrote:I've technically been working at it for nearly a decade, but progress has slowed in the last few years to the rate of about one annually once I got into single digits(there are roughly 40 NTSC-U fighters on the SNES). The first two DBZ Super Butōden games were pretty solid.

Probably not, as I tend to stick to domestics, though I admit I have beaten the Yu Yu Hakusho and DBZ fighters back when I was in high school.
No, the big prize now is the RPGs.

Re: How Is Your SNES Gaming Going?
I'm very close to obtaining all the North American released SNES RPGs (two to go). Now, playing them all is another story. Tons of Super Famicom stuff out there I still need to check out as well.
Re: How Is Your SNES Gaming Going?
At this point there are a few left to collect, but mostly it's WRPGs I am missing. I've knocked out a bunch of them though. Eventually I will beat them all. I expect Wizardry V will be the last.
