More on the movie train this weekend:
Lethal Weapon 1
Lethal Weapon 2
Napoleon Dynamite (original)
Napoleon Dynamite (theatrical)
Office Space
Deadpool
Something About Mary
Suicide Squad

Then Regular Show ended so Monday was spent watching the last season.

Lethal Weapon 1 is an incredible Buddy Cop story.
Lethal Weapon 2 is a soso Buddy Cop story.

Napoleon Dynamite is an example I will always go back to about an indiefilm becoming a cult classic. While it is not a favorite of mine, every few years I watch both versions to learn how they made a film on so little budget that hit all the right points to win Sundance. It is a fascinating case study. Like Evil Dead, it is just a blip in the movie landscape, but it is a fascinating microcosmos.

Office Space - the better version of Superman 3. Everyone should watch this atleast once a year, more frequently if you are in a cube environment.

Deadpool - So glad I did not see this in the theater. It was an enjoyable movie for a second run through.

Something About Mary - I missed this one back in the day and watched in on a whim. It was not at all what I was expecting. This was a masterfully crafted story with a love sideline. While there is a stupid moment that became the flagship scene, the rest of it is solid.

Suicide Squad - Lets get drunk and combine comicbook stories. The Joker was unneeded, Captain Boomerang did nothing of note but drink beer, and the story wavered back and for like it was a drunk snake. It was enjoyable because of Jay Hernandez as El Diablo. Dont get me wrong, Will Smith and Margot Robbie were fine. Viola Davis was perfect. But the story just kept jumping on random tangents and with gaps. I am going to give the extended cut a go but I was very disappointed in this attempt.

Regular Show Season 8 - first half was slow and somewhat boring but necessary, second half was the best they have done since Format Wars.

In the coming month, I've tickets to two double features on the big screen:

Evil Dead / Evil Dead II
Suspiria / Warlock

You may now become jelly.

The short story Arrival is based on, "Story of your Life," by Ted Chiang is a really good read. Read it once many years ago and again more recently and still loved it.

There is an extended version of something about mary that adds 11 minutes, great flick though. I enjoy all ben stiller movies like these. even though he gets flack about playing the same character, I just enjoy everything he's in comedy wise.

Ben Stiller directed The Cable Guy, so even if he never did anything else, he still would get my appreciation.

The hear break kid, the watch, tower heist, along came polly, duplex, the focker movies. Same character, but he plays it well. I enjoy every movie he's in. The museum movies, dodgeball, reality bites. He's just good.

Don't forget the legendary Tropic Thunder.

I've missed Ben Stiller. Why did he suddenly become a bit inactive in the industry?

Ben Stiller's few episodes on Curb Your Enthusiasm are hilarious.
