I haven't tried the Xbox streaming thing. Far as I know it's just a virtual TV.
I did get the Touch controllers, which are pretty cool, though I still haven't exactly played any VR games through to the end.

Re: Oculus Rift Preorders Are Open $599 + Tax/Shipping Thoug
Touch controllers either need to go down in price (or go on sale), OR there needs to be enough Touch-required games that I really want to play to make them worth the price.
Re: Oculus Rift Preorders Are Open $599 + Tax/Shipping Thoug
Part of the cost is the additional camera, I suppose, which is also an additional consideration for setup. IdeallyI think they actually would include a third camera, and have it set up behind you (they do offer them to buy for the purpose)...but it starts getting more into the room scale stuff that the Vive has.
I think, now that the controllers are out, that most VR games are going to design around them, unless they just make more sense with other controls (like simulators).

isiolia, have you played Herobound? It was on sale for free last week - not sure if it still is. But it's basically a 3D Zelda clone. I played 30 mins so far and it's very enjoyable.

Yes, I saw
I mean, it's great news for those that didn't buy it at $199.

Re: Oculus Rift Discussion
I still don't have them. For me $99 feels like an easier price to just grab a set with the intention of having them just in case. $199 felt like I needed a real reason game to come out and make me want to spend the money.
Re: Oculus Rift Discussion
Oh, definitely
I just laugh because between the GTX1080 price drop with the Ti coming out, the drop on the Rift, and the controllers (expensive things I splurged on last year)....that's the largest relative drop, and the most recent release. So it stings a little, even if it's a much more palatable price in general. For that much, yeah, well worth grabbing (keep in mind that the package includes a second camera too).

Re: Oculus Rift Discussion
forgot about the second camera. How does that work. I have my single on to the right of my monitor. Would the second go to the left, or do I need to figure out a way to get it behind me?
Re: Oculus Rift Discussion
The instructions are to put the cameras on either side. They do fairly well like that, but the desk creates kind of a plane they can't track under for me, and it's possible to entirely block the view of both cameras still.
They sell additional cameras if you want to try to put one behind you for (better) room-scale.
