That pic does give me a chubby fast, I can not lie, but at $40 for a pair of joycons (if this doesnt support my U pro controllers and such) plus the cost of the system and game? $400 is just too much for a Mario kart I already own. Hoping for wicked bundles coming holiday 2017.

I'm just going off release dates on Gamestop's website
Some of them seem inconsistent for dates, or are listed other places as simply March or Spring. The only games that Nintendo themselves list for 3/3 are Zelda and 1-2 Switch, but it could well be that others are digital or pending certification or something.

I don't usually care about graphics too much, but did the video look muddy as hell to anyone else? My internet was only running the stream at 720, but this just looked poor to me.
It definitely looked to be running on lower settings, but certainly what one would reasonably expect from a mobile version. Same really can be said for a lot of the game footage. Pretty rough looking for console or PC games in 2017, but great for a portable.
Other than that 1-2 Switch looks like nothing I would ever spend $50 on and Arms looks cool but I am not that excited to jump into motion controls again. I could see arms having a normal control scheme for portable play though.
Motion controls are one thing - much as I don't like them for TV based games, they're completely logical and natural for VR, for instance. The main thing to me is that Nintendo seems to be spending a lot of time trying to sell those as full priced games. The games bundled with my Oculus Touch are nifty, but I certainly wouldn't buy them for $50-60 a pop.

This looks bad, is it a good idea just to preorder one of these things to play it safe??

They're selling out like the Nintendo CE has done, and given Nintendo's record it could be trouble for months or year long.

I'm now seeing Street Fighter II, and quite a few other solid third party games I'd actually care for making me think they may not give this one the rub like the WiiU.

SHould I just preorder the stupid thing and if I change my mind back out for someone else on it?

Sure, I expected Skyrim to be toned down graphically, but I guess I wasn't expecting it to look quite like that. I was hoping for some higher quality pics on the website, but nothing so far.

As for VR YES! the joycons would make excellent VR controllers and I hope that is something Nintendo is planning for the future. I just dont know how good of a experience the 720p screen would give you though. My crappy phones screen is much smaller and runs at 720 and looks terrible with a google cardboard. Surely nintendos headset would be a little more advanced than that but who knows if they want to keep it affordable.

Just realized that a set of joycons is $80 for a set not 40, and $70 for the pro controller. Wow, just wow.

I am not fucking around like I did with the WiiU. Got a soft pre-order at Target online (no confirmation yet) and hit up the local Gamestop and put money down on a confirmed pre-order.

If both go through, I'll just get the other one for my kiddo. Her birthday is in March.
Maybe now Nintendo will acknowledge Metroid has a fanbase?

I don't see why these prices are a shock considering what all is inside those parts. Controllers aren't cheap.

And the system on the TV is 1080p and at 60fps, supposedly does 4k at 30fps, not that I think many would opt for that I imagine. So if you wanted to do a VR thing I think its possible, just docked.

Docked VR kind of ruins what I had in mind though. I imagined you would slide the entire tablet into a headset thus having a full portable VR experience. Like those Samsung headsets. If you have to buy another expensive headset and you are stuck only to the living room that doesn't sound great to me. I also doubt this thing runs at 4k natively. Upscale sure, but certainly not a true 4k.

The controllers still seem a little pricey to me. I was thinking more the price in terms of getting 4 for a Mario Kart multiplayer session though. I'm sure they would not make for the most comfortable experience either at 80 bones.

The only point I felt that the controls really suffered was flying that damn bird.
I thought that initially as well (that first race was embarrassing!), but I eventually figured out how to get him to do exactly what I wanted. The flying is quite a bit more technical than it needed to be.

I'm in the "Skyward was awesome" camp. Other than recentering the controls occasionally, I had no issues. And I didn't view that any differently than I would picking up a mouse to recenter.

I am stoked for Zelda now. I haven't had that feeling in a long, long time.
