How is your Dreamcast gaming going on?
Re: How is your Dreamcast gaming going on?
I remember that pawn stars episode. I had no clue who it was. But then again, the last thing on my mind back then was watching videos game guys on youtube lol. I've since come around and like a few though.

Perhaps because it was done by a well known Japanese composer, Ryuchi Sakamoto, famous for movie soundtracks.Xeogred wrote:What happened to awesome system startup sounds? I forget how amazing the Dreamcast's was haha. Last good one.

Agreed on the DC startup but the GC was just as nice plus it had the goofy secret effect too.

Although the dreamcast startup is fantastic, the ps1 startup is best for me

So last night I tinkered a bit more with the DC and got caught up in a little bit of Gundam, even on easy if you're fresh to it or long out of it, it can be a trip and easily killed (never rush in.) A solid fun game, not many Gundam titles are that stable.
Jumped to my bootlegs and did a few sparring sessions in SF3 3rd Strike and then Super SF2X and they were really quite fun to mess around with as it has been so long.
Then I got caught up in Propeller Arena. I love the quick battling best in the game. Just like in the past the championship mode is fairly cheap. You can go in like 4 of the 10 rounds, but once you hit the middle the AI suddenly gets very smart like a switch is flipped. It's not that they shoot you down so much as they gang up on some chump AI craft and rolls it fairly quickly to 10kills to win. What blows is, why is there even a 1-10 rating per course? If you don't hit #1 each time, you lose a credit and fail, so it only fakes the appearance of a Mario Kart like point tier which is a shame.
Amazingly ran out of time, never got to Rez. :\

yeah it really is a bummer we never got Propeller Arena out here, and Rez is easily in my top 10 all time list too, you'll have a blast with that one!
speaking of having a blast, more folks should hit up Cosmic Smash.

Is the Dreamcast av port temperamental or something? I have 3 and all three work with the svideo cable, although I had to jiggle the cable every now and then on 2 cause it turned black and white. Only one works with the vga box I got from ebay. Long story short after plugging it in a few times the Dreamcast port of the box's casing busted off and I had 2 wires to solder back. Not sure if I was setup by the seller or not. But back to the issue. One displays half of the Dreamcast logo and freezes. The 2nd displays fine but the animation is in slow motion and a 5 second input lag. The 3rd, which the laser is fucked of course, works flawless. Guess I'll be swapping lasers with that one lol.

As mentioned earlier, be sure to have a puru pack with Rez. MadCatz Lightup vibration pack the best. Once you get into it, look for the K-Project version ISO download.Tanooki wrote:Amazingly ran out of time, never got to Rez. :\

wait, what's that version do differently? and i've the weaker sega jump pack thing myself, always wondered if it'd just be better to track down a PS2 vibration controller insteadCRTGAMER wrote:As mentioned earlier, be sure to have a puru pack with Rez.
