Heh, well, I've made little progress on actually beating much of anything for the past week or so either. So, don't feel too bad >.>noiseredux wrote: Summary: The progress report is that no progress has been made on any RPG's.
RPG Progress Report
Re: RPG Progress Report
If you hadn't seen it/seen it linked already, Polygon has a nice long-form piece about FFVII up.

Aeris is the Cake, happy?Sarge wrote:SPOILERS, MAN, SPOILERS!!!fastbilly1 wrote:Aeris is dead, disc 2 has begun.
Really it is a ridiculous concept. Aeris died in the battle before that too, but she came back pretty solidly...Really any rpg where you have revive magic is silly that a character or enemy can permanently die.

Spoilers for other, 16 bit Final Fantasy games:
Aerith is especially stupid because she just gets stabbed. Like, lots of people stabbed me so far, hows this different? If anything, he didn't swing the weapon, and it's a fairly narrow sword - the wound is likely smaller than the ones the other enemies would have given me!

Truthfully I am tempted to cheat and get her back in the party. The Yuffie Warp glitch just has too many steps when I can gameshark her back.

I always thought that characters in Final Fantasy games were simply KO'ed when their HP reached zero in battle. They could only "die" as part of the storyline.alienjesus wrote:Aerith is especially stupid because she just gets stabbed. Like, lots of people stabbed me so far, hows this different? The approach taken by the Final Fantasy series is very different from the approach taken in the Dragon Quest games, where adorable blue slimes will literally kill you...

I can't even imagine playing that with touch controls. Not unless the entire combat system was overhauled.noiseredux wrote:I loaded up Secret Of Mana; but wasn't feeling the touch controls on this one.

I'm sure it has an option to use a controller. I'm lazy when I don't feel good.BoneSnapDeez wrote:I can't even imagine playing that with touch controls. Not unless the entire combat system was overhauled.noiseredux wrote:I loaded up Secret Of Mana; but wasn't feeling the touch controls on this one.

Don't play video games while sick. Your memory of them will be forever tainted by your illness. Last year I played those Phantasy Star II Text Adventures while I had hand, foot, and mouth disease and now I can't disassociate one from the other. You're better off sitting on the couch and watching ten Forensic Files episodes back-to-back.
Glad to see you with thinking of giving Mana another go, though.

Re: RPG Progress Report
nah I'm the opposite. Usually a bad cold or flu will be my reason for finally tackling a JRPG or the likes. I hate to tell you this, but years ago for TR I played through Ys while I was sick.BoneSnapDeez wrote:Don't play video games while sick. Your memory of them will be forever tainted by your illness.
Re: RPG Progress Report
You mean playing through Ys was sick, right?
