DSi Event at some Game Stops

Talk about just about anything else that is non-gaming here, but keep it clean

...But I've heard (or read somewhere, can't remember exactly) that eventually games will in fact be made specifically for the DSi - sort of like Gameboy Color and the original Gameboy back in the day, basically leading to the eventual discontinuation of the original DS/DSLite.

I know I'm echoing concerns stated often already, but it pisses me off to think that Nintendo is pretty much making the DS obsolete already. What if there are some games that we would like to play but can't due to their being made specifically for the DSi? It's just bullshit, and that's it, I guess. Such is the way of Nintendo... (as well as every other big-name business)

Sucks that they won't leave the DS alone, though. It's got nothing wrong with it, and game developers generally seem to make better use of the stylus and dual screens than they do with the other consoles thus far. In fact, I'd go so far as to say that the DS is the best 'console' this generation. Why change an already (almost) perfect thing?

PS - Screw you, Nintendo!
Ditto, if its not broke than don't fix it. However the reality is mostly everyone who wanted to buy a DS probably has already bought one so they need a refresh to keep sales up. Just my humble opinion.

You're probably right. But wouldn't it be nice to see Nintendo focusing their energy on quality 1st party software for another few years instead of tinkering with what could have possibly become the highest selling system of all time?

I can dream, can't I?

All DSs have that video out feature. The problem is the cable is extremely rare, and only intended for media outlets and journalists to use for their video reviews and such. I've tried to at least find a picture of the damn thing, but I've failed. I have no idea how it even connects.
I'm taking about making it a standard feature. If it requires an expensive cable that you can not buy, it doesn't count. The PSP has a simple video-out cable anyone can get. Back in the days of the original GBA, there was a mod that could allow for video-out. Again, if it's not readily available in retail stores, to me it doesn't count.

1989 Original Game Boy
1995 Game Boy Pocket
1998 Game Boy Color

2001 GBA
2003 GBA SP
2005 GBA Micro

2004 NDS
2006 DS Lite
2009 DSi

Dates are approximations. Looking at that, Nintendo is maintaining the tradition of refreshing the model every 2-3 years. Of course that is if you ignore the original lasting 6 years before it was changed.

I understand that. Jesus. I'm just saying it should be mass produced.
