If you want to 100% this game or not miss out on dramatically important things in the game, you probably have to follow an extremely meticulous walk through every inch of the way.
If you want to do 100% in ONE play through, then you do need to follow a VERY meticulous guide. It is very easy to miss easy things and some of those final % points can be very difficult to get.

If you want to do 100% in TWO play throughs, then it is very simple. There is over 110% in the game. You have to make a decision in the middle part of the game and one decision sends you down one path while another sends you down a completely different path. Because of this, there is more story to see in which choice you make.

So, trying to get everything in the first play through and then cleaning up on the second play through is the easiest way to get 100%.

Having to play something twice like that to get crucial story bits seems like shitty design to me.

Ys on Master System is done. Not sure what's next, but sometime in the next week or so, I'm going to start Ys I+II for TGCD.

Xanadu Next
I've got a little over 3 hours on the game clock. At this point, I'd call this a great action-RPG, it's quite fun and rewarding. I think it's going to fall in line with Nayuta no Kiseki and Brandish... that is to say, a high quality Falcom action-RPG that is ignored in light of the developer's more popular series like Ys and Trails. So far I'm having a good time with this, although I won't pretend Xanadu Next is not without a few quibbles.

I started up Paper Mario at the weekend. I adore this game.

I've beaten the game before, borrowed from a friend when I was like 14 or so. It's been 14 years, but I finally have my own copy, and I couldn't be happier.

I only played a little, arrived in Toad Town after defeating the Goomba King. I forgot that you have to go the first hour or so without action commands, it feels weird!

gonna give Mass Effect another chance. I originally played it after Dragon Age Origins and felt let down that it wasn't just Dragon Age In Space. Got bored. A while later I tried ME2. Liked it for a few hours. Got bored. So I don't know.

If you want something more like Dragon Age Origins you'd probably have to go backwards - Neverwinter Nights 2 is fairly similar in terms of mechanics. Even the subsequent Dragon Age games change things a bit.

Mass Effect, on the other hand, is generally more consistent. It gets more streamlined, especially from the first game, but it's generally still the same.

I kind of suspect that Andromeda is going to wind up being Inquisition in space though.

yup, yup. I played through DAO with the camera zoomed way out. It was about as close to making it an Infinity Engine game as I could get it haha. I actually did get NWN2 recently on GOG. But... I'm only re-visiting ME as part of my little project where I attempt to play all the games on PC Gamer's Top 100 list.
