Have you played FF4 and FF6?
They're even better!

Naruto says believe it.

I have not, but FF2,4,5,6,8,9,10,10-2, and 12 are all on my to-play-soonish list.

Lots of homework. Least you only have one other Chrono game haha. Wonder what you'll think of Chrono Cross, seems very mixed but I liked it a lot back in the day. Just go in expecting something totally different and unrelated.

I like Final Fantasy VI more than Chrono Trigger, but it's a much messier game mechanically. So exploitable.

I'm also gonna hit up some SMS Ys soon.

Next time I replay FF6 I'm going to ban summons/magic on everyone beyond Terra, Celes, and the other two mages. Otherwise yeah, when everyone can cast Cure 4, Ultima, etc, you're invincible.

I secretly wonder if I like FF4 the most thesedays.

There's so many different ways to exploit things that even going natural magic doesn't provide a lot of challenge if you know what you're doing. FFV is even more breakable, though.

I haven't beaten a lot of them either, and this seems like a good year to tackle them (30th anniversary for the franchise and all). At the same time, I've seen rumors of a collection coming as a result - waiting on XII for the HD Zodiac Job System version seems logical at least.

Only two are missing for me on that sequence: Final Fantasy V and Final Fantasy X-2. I have a late-game save for the former, and I had just gotten tired of playing it and got a save for the endgame to just see it all end. I really should pick that back up.

FFX-2 is one that I got obsessed with the idea of getting 100% on one playthrough, decided it was too much effort, and ended up dropping it after around five hours. I really should just approach it on its own terms, and screw the walkthroughs. Like most RPGs, I enjoy them a lot better when I don't make them "checklist" gaming.

I basically rage quit FFX-2 last year (or maybe it was 2015). Because of how "trigger" based the ENTIRE game and events were, it was downright disgusting to me. If you didn't talk to Random Red Dude in this chapter, you're not getting this item on that random beach later on. Etc, everything about that game seemed like it was designed in that way, with a huge emphasis on backtracking the dozen or so main areas, repeatedly searching those same levels over again for random new generic looking NPC's or items, etc. And nothing ever seemed obvious.

I mean sure... if I missed some gil or potions, big deal. But no, you could easily miss entire Job classes and other important key items.

My OCD went nuts. Couldn't handle that crap.

Not sure if any of that makes sense, but those who have played the game probably know exactly what I'm talking about. If you want to 100% this game or not miss out on dramatically important things in the game, you probably have to follow an extremely meticulous walk through every inch of the way.

Also it had minigames galore and they sucked. But you had to do them to get good stuff.

Shame too because I honestly didn't mind the goofier story and the combat was solid.

I am currently diligently waiting for Tales of Innosence R to arrive, so in the meanwhile, I am entertaining myself with really silly Xseed/Marvelous brawlers, so I don't get burned out on RPG's before I even start one. Didn't wanna count on the idea of being able to beat Tales of Phantasia before the new one came anyway, as it seems someone (I've forgotten who, sorry) on here was having a good deal of trouble around the 50 or 60 hour mark.
