I have to ask, what does trolling mean?GSZX1337 wrote:I think he was trying to say that your comment was so out there, that it's like saying that FFVII is a bad Strategy game.MrEco wrote:Well...Cronson wrote:Haha. This topic is going to get so much crap! Saying Psychonauts is shovelware is like saying Final Fantasy VII was a terrible strategy game:
1. Its not even accurate because its not strategy.
2. And you'll piss off every fan who loves that game.
I can't wait to see the flames of hate get fanned by this discussion.
1. I never said Psychonauts was a bad RPG or a bad FPS or anything like that so that comment doesn't make any sense.
2. I've already given my very valid reasons for not liking the game in above posts not to mention that it's only my opinion. So really nobody should be flaming anything here.
Think before you troll.
Also, not liking the graphical style is a pretty lame excuse for not liking a game.
Is the Xbox really worth it?

As stated on Wikipedia: "An Internet troll, or simply troll in Internet slang, is someone who posts controversial, inflammatory, irrelevant or off-topic messages in an online community, such as an online discussion forum or chat room, with the primary intent of provoking other users into an emotional response[1] or to generally disrupt normal on-topic discussion"Cronson wrote:I have to ask, what does trolling mean?GSZX1337 wrote:I think he was trying to say that your comment was so out there, that it's like saying that FFVII is a bad Strategy game.MrEco wrote: Well...

I guess an example might be someone referring to a few highly regarded and popular games as shovelware on a video game forum. Lumping a title which may be someone's favorite game into a category of games that includes Petz: Crazy Monkeyz and Bratz: Girlz Really Rock! is certain to incite an emotional response from some gamer. I guess that could be deemed as controversial and inflammatory.

So, by that logic, you shouldn't play any game that has less than state of the art graphics. I don't like the graphical style of F.E.A.R. but it ended up being decent. Hell, I thought that the graphical style of Team Fortress 2 was crap. Team Fortress 2 is my favorite multiplayer game. Serious Sam 2 has shitty HDR effects, I played the demo and liked it. The player should look past the graphical style, dialog, etc. and focus on the gameplay.MrEco wrote:Seeming as I'm forced to stare at the graphical art style the entire time I'm playing the game, it sounds like a pretty valid reason to me.GSZX1337 wrote: I think he was trying to say that your comment was so out there, that it's like saying that FFVII is a bad Strategy game.

All I was stating was my personal opinion on a subject. It's not my fault(and it wasn't my intention) for anyone to get offended or to make such a huge stinking deal over it.
It's honestly really immature of people to be offended by a single persons opinion. My opinion doesn't effect there life whatsoever. Just grow up and get over it people.

Well different graphical styles are going to get different reactions from a person. The graphics of F.E.A.R look fine to me while I wouldn't be caught dead playing Sam & Max or Team Fortress 2. I'm the last person to say graphics can make or break a game but even I have my limits and if I'm on the breaking point of physical pain because of the specific style of a games graphics then I'm not going to be having fun. There's a certain point where the graphics, whether because of being very bad or just a unique style, effect the gameplay.GSZX1337 wrote:So, by that logic, you shouldn't play any game that has less than state of the art graphics. I can't believe they made a 4th one. The Myst series is absolute garbage. Complete point-and-click trash.MrEco wrote: Myst IV: Revelation

Disregarding GSZX's comment, I believe sakic was being sarcastic.MrEco wrote:Congratulations, you're a hypocrite.sakicfan84 wrote:I can't believe they made a 4th one. The Myst series is absolute garbage. Complete point-and-click trash.MrEco wrote: Myst IV: Revelation
Now, venturing away from the Psychonauts discussion, I've got a few questions to consider. First, have you ever played Xbox? I just ask because one of my biggest gripes was with the controller design. Even in games I enjoyed on the console, I always felt that the controller was garbage, hence my avoiding the console now. Second, would you consider modding it? The Xbox is well known for the mods you could do with it, and if you're interested in that kind of thing, it's definitely something to look into. Third, are you interested in it as a DVD player? It's just a little something to consider.
As far as the ports, yes, many are inferior, though since you don't have a high end PC, it may be your only means of playing those games, to which I would reply with "Sure, go for it." I would caution you on Jade Empire, if only because I felt the game was too short. I would also suggest titles like Genma Onimusha or Silent Hill 2: Restless Dreams (since your location mentions Spain, it's Silent Hill 2: Inner Fears in Europe), but I like my horror games.
Re: Is the Xbox really worth it?
Was that a joke? You were the first person in this topic. No matter how you justify it, choosing games based off of the presentation alone is offensively superficial. I give credence to any type of presentation so long as the gameplay is sound and enjoyable, which is most certainly the case in Psychonauts. There's objectivity and subjectivity, but that doesn't mean that subjectivity based on poor objectivity (giving more weight to graphics than gameplay in a videogame) is or should be acceptable.MrEco wrote:I'm the last person to say graphics can make or break a game...
As for the PC ports, if you can't even afford an older computer that can support those titles, I guess the Xbox versions would be worth your while. Otherwise, there are certainly enough superior multi-platform titles and exclusive titles to give most gamers a run for their money. Though it's hard to say with your apparent criteria for games. If you're legitimately interested in all the games in your list (I have no idea how anyone could be interested in that many Star Wars games), I don't even see why you need to come here and ask. I own systems with a third as many games I'm interested in - and I don't discount great titles like Psychonauts for superficiality.
Also, if you don't own a PC capable of playing an eleven year old game, I have my doubts whether you emulate much with your PC either. If you're interested in emulating, Xbox mods is a good way to go about it. There's also a good amount of homebrew that enables PC programs to play on Xbox. Though seriously, get a new computer.
