This was my experience exactly. I remember thinking this was so "mature" when I was twelve. When I re-read Spawn as an adult I couldn't help but roll my eyes. Clearly my definition of "mature" has changed.

Yo, my boi, Noise. What should I read if I like the DD, JJ, Luke shows?

you wanna kind of stay in that world, then?

I recently read the first TPB collection of The Pulse which was awesome. I loved this one, and totally plan to find the other volumes:

I wrote a longer thing about it on my blog, maybe a month ago. But it's awesome. In it JJ and Luke are preggers and JJ takes a job working at the Daily Bugle. There's lots of crossover stuff to the JJ/DD/LC shows in this series.

I've been reading the current JJ series, but I don't really recommend it as much as going back to the older Alias stuff. You could start with Alias volume 1 and work your way through 4 which is the one that the first season of the show was based on.

For DD you probably want to stick with 80's Miller. Though, this is based on my research, not personal reading. I've got The Man Without Fear and Reborn in my collection, but haven't read em yet. I also plan to grab the volume that Kevin Smith wrote in the 90's.

Now, if you are just interested in stuff that shares tone with these shows, but is unrelated then I highly suggest the new Hawkeye series. It's not Clint Barton Hawkeye, it's Kate Bishop (Young Avengers) and only has two issues out so far but it is so so good.

yeah, that's basically everything in the series. It's missing issue #10 but not a big deal as that was a tie-in with another series and would confuse you out of context. It also has a New Avengers one-shot issue in there which you will appreciate as a fan of the shows.

Basically that book is all three paperback collections combined. I only have/read the first so far.

Pretty exclusively. But I'm lucky and have a lot of options. There's a very awesome little shop near my work which I hit every Wednesday. The manager is cool, and generally tosses me a discount for frequenting and is happy to special order things for me.

Then I've got three shops pretty close to my house that I can hit up on the weekend if I'm looking for something in particular that my main shop doesn't have. There's a New England Comics (the birthplace of The Tick!) not too far from me, which is a great shop as they have awesome sales on TPB's. There's another shop in my local mall which has a small but decent section, and then there's a chain across the street from that which does very good sales on collected books if they sit on the shelves too long. I've bought lots of HC collections there for less than $5.

So yeah, with all these places close enough to browse, I've only ever ordered ONE comic book online that I was looking for and couldn't find. And I've bought some collected books from Amazon since I have gift cards from Christmas.

Sweet!

#3 must be a pre-order? (#2 just came out last week).
