What RPG are you playing right now?
Re: What RPG are you playing right now?
Have you played a Dark Souls before this? I'd say there's quite a bit to say in the first four hours if you have.

Time isn't necessarily a good gauge of progression for those games either though, since some people could have beat the game multiple times over in that amount of time... I would guess maybe Cathedral of the Deep or Farron Keep, depending on direction taken in Road of Sacrifices for more average? By that point though, yeah, certainly some cool lore stuff to run into, but mostly in how it ties back to the first game.

They're just like the PC versions...but the controls are less intuitive. Have fun!

The answer to Starks question is yes. I have played all the previous souls and souls like games. I have been taking things slow and been helping others. The timer is currently on 8 hours and i unlocked the Farron keep bonfire and unlocked the lift on the are where the big giant was.
I haven't noticed anything interesting relating to the lore but i haven't really read all the items i have picked up. None of the areas so far have been bad but i can't say that anything i've seen so far has exited me. There's some nice views though.
Re: What RPG are you playing right now?
I played a little bit of Herakles no Eikou IV, which recently got a translation patch.

The return of the Firelink Shrine didn't do anything for you? Or the church bringing folks for sacrifice? Or on the Road to Sacrifices, you can lore speculate quite a bit about those bird things and their relation to Velka and the Painted World of Ariamis. I also loved those nuns that grab you, reminded me of the enemies in Demon's Souls with their creepy laugh.

The whole Irithyll Dungeon area is a send up to the Tower of Latria. The jailer/nuns with the brands and max HP reduction gaze are reminiscent of the jailers there, and pretty memorable in their own right.
For the Farron Keep area, there are indications of it being Oolacile, or outside of Artorias of the Abyss, Darkroot Garden. You can find Princess Dusk's outfit there (and Pharis's hat and bow), Xanthous invader, the Golden Tome (Oolacile sorceries) Mushroom people corpses, etc. Which in turn makes the Abyss Watchers kind of interesting, and how they or other things in the area likely tie back to Artorias and Sif (it's also just probably the first particularly cool boss you'd usually run into unless you trigger the Dancer fight early).
Re: What RPG are you playing right now?
Is that suppose to be the same firelink shrine from the first game? There's very little contex here so at this point it's hard to make any connections. If there was something interesting about road of sacrifice then i completely missed that one too because all i saw was another big empty area.
And i don't have bestest memory for little details. It's already been ages since i played Dark Souls and year and half since i played the second one so i only remember the most important names and characters. I know about Velka but i didn't really think anything of the bird enemies either because i'm usually too busy of thinking about surviving and spotting items and paths.
EDIT: I haven't explored Farren Keep yet and neither did i actually play the Dark Souls DLC. I've always meant to get the edition with the DLC but for some reason never got around doing it.

Bruh, Imma let you finish, but the Dark Souls DLC is the best DLC of all time.

Re: What RPG are you playing right now?
Seems like it could be the same Firelink Shrine, otherwise they could have just called it something else. I think the much muddier thing is the timeline, or the general how/why of things being like they are. Like, could be a new, post-DS2 cycle (I think there's some art of the queen that'd support that), could be an alternate version where the Chosen Undead never succeeded, etc.
There are definitely some specific characters and locations that return, but most are more subtle.
If I recall, the Road of Sacrifices probably refers to people being brought to the Cathedral of the Deep to feed to Aldrich.
You will definitely recognize where you end up fighting him
Vaati has a lot of lore videos for the series, much of which would still be (well backed up) speculation, but that's kind of how these games do things.
Also, yeah, the DLC for all of these games has represented them at their best. Hard to say 100% for DS3, yet, but I enjoyed the first one.
