Picked up a few imports while visiting a couple BookOff stores up north in La La land.

PS2 Black (EA:SY! 1980) - $3.00 - BookOff
Already own the regular and greatest hits versions. There were two import versions on the shelf, both appeared to be Japan import second edition pressings. The store had an EA Best Hits for $5.00 and the "EA:SY!1980" version.





The PS2 came out in 2000, so why the meaning of "EA:SY! 1980" other then a greatest hits 2nd run pressing?

Japan White Cart Gameboy Purikura Pocket 2 - $3.00 - BookOff
Japan White Cart Gameboy Tamagotchi - $5.00 - BookOff
Legit NES import carts come in various colors; Gameboy carts overall tend to be grey and Gameboy Color are usually black or dark tinted clear. Spotted two import white carts which are uncommon, had to buy them. Too bad not the rare Pokemon Flash Cart.

Gameboy Loopz - $5.00 - BookOff
The PC DOS game is a decent puzzler; the gameboy version similar game play on the portable screen. Attach random line shapes as in the game Pipe Dreams, but instead place to encircle the pipe frames.



Sudoku Tech Source- $5.00 - BookOff
Nice portable touch screen with a "DSI" plastic pen. Not big on Sudoku, but a good price though not the back lit version.

An import "Mario Paint" Kawaii type of game, had to buy it as one of the few PS2 games that support a USB Mouse!

PS2 Boku no Natsuyasumi 2: Umi no Bouken Hen - $10.00 - BookOff
Appears to be an explore insect and fish collecting game. The back cover has very nice graphics teasing of discovering the game play.

PS2 Bio Hazard 4 The Best with BGM CD - $15.00 $12.00
Saved the best for last. Based on the two price tags, been on the shelf for a while. Have multiple PS2, Gamecube and Wii versions of Resident Evil 4. The bonus music CD the draw to snag this version! Been watching for the red Gamestop Gamecube version, a very cool hold over!

I imagine you in something akin to the BBC sitcom 'Goodnight Sweetheart'. Where is the magical Portal that transports you into the past and a Goodwill store that hasn't yet price checked everything on ebay?

That pretty much covers it. In a 10mi rectangle of space I'm willing to bother with there are 4 Goodwill's and one other Vincent Depaul thrift. The upper left one is the one where I got the huge Lego bundle worth $500 a year ago, a Sony 80s media wood rack, the $6 Dreamcast setup, and various other goodies and it's the newest...they don't care outside of boxed newer (Wii and later) stuff which ends up more.

The bottom left store rarely gets stuff, if it does, and it's a hotter named system/oddball they overcharge ($90 for a Virtual Boy with no parts other than the stand.)

The center Goodwill rarely has things, but if they do it's cheap...I got like 10 N64 games 2 years ago out of there for their wall marked 2.25/ea for them, and center right the thrift never has anything gaming but oddball old PC stuff mostly.

Then the far east Goodwill is a ripoff artist nightmare which is why the DC pad+vmu being cheap was mind blowing as common as they are. They're usually 2-3x the ebay paid rate. They have gotten boxed NES systems, a Master System, old 70s/80s toys(like Star Wars), random carts (usually the sports/and $5 level NES stuff) and the prices I'd check online and they'd have a double or better mark up. I've seen them list $5 NES games for $15-20 each so I don't even bother but to go there for other stuff.

That's how it is in this area, people around here don't bother and just use craigslist or a resale chain around here as the effort isn't worth it if you're just game hunting. I don't game hunt but I won't turn down a deal so I'm not disappointed.



CRT good job and I really do miss Book Off. Every year I head back there I go to at least one of them and I've until this year at least found a game and a manga I want which was sad. Couple years back I got that fantastic Tetris Advance GBA game which we were denied due to licensing with that awful Tetris Worlds game.

I'd love to know what's on that GBC flash cart from Nintendo. I would have bought that blind and wouldn't care what was on it just to have something like that. You wouldn't part with it would you??

I'm going to hazard a guess. Could it be that these budget "greatest hit" games were priced at one thousand nine hundred eighty yen?

You would be correct. Those oddball numbers usually were them throwing a price on the game name itself with those BEST lines and a few others back then. DS has a line of them too I remember seeing at BookOff when I can get into them (usually before moving back here.)

Hi folks. I wanted to tell you all here that right now there's yokai watch toys at Dollar Tree! Don't know if it's nation wide or just here on the west coast. But it doesn't hurt to check.



I took these four home, and another friend of mine in town asked me if I could buy some for him and I did.

I've never watched this but my kid who hasn't either just loves that commercial they run and used to just repeat the lyrics all the time. I bet she'd love a set of 4 dollar toys.

Inside the game case is a matched "EA:SY! 1980 Black game disc"; the manual appears to be the original (14 glossy pages) game manual in Japanese of course. As to the logo, the EA has to be Electonics Arts and the 1980 Yen price seems to makes sense putting the game at $16.82 U.S. Now what does the SY mean?

Never heard of Yokai Watch. My impression of Dollar Tree is similiar the 99 Cent and Big Lots stores; a resell franchise dealing with overstock items from big box stores. That stated, if four bucks a very good price!

Amazingly my Goodwill has dropped some of it's prices . All their electronics were reasonably priced for once the other day they had $8 blu ray players, $5 DVD/VCR combos (Picked up another ), and the game accessories including stuff like Wii Balance boards and controllers were like $3 as opposed to their usual $10-15. Hell a month ago those bluray players would have been $40 even without remotes because you know with the giving spirit everyone should pay retail + a bit extra for donated and possibly broken items .

My last couple posts were about the Dreamcast mega cheap find, then the week later the N64 bundle for $20. I had more smaller luck since which is really surprising around here.

Another goodwill turned up a pair of green and yellow N64 controllers with perfectly solid joysticks and shells to them for $5 together. Due to that, I decided along with Banjo from the N64 bundle to now keep a spare 2nd gray controller and rolled those onto ebay instead to cover the costs.

Then yesterday evening I had gone out as I needed to just get out, and at half price books I found Pokemon LeafGreen complete in the box (partly damaged box from some squishing) for $35, the one with the wireless adapter. It seems to retail on ebay for twice that.

They also had for complete copies of Lunar Legend, Zelda2NES, and Fire Emblem Sacred Stones but left them there. Also earlier that day for a dollar I found the old early 2000s jakks pacific Atari Paddle games TV controller thing and with good batteries inside. It has a nice little variety of games on it.

Downer though My Sonic Adventure game in that DC bundle I picked up on ebay to have stuff to play with on my system was scratched worse than I thought. First play it hiccuped days ago, yesterday trying again it failed like 10x then worked once, then just up and quit. I tried to buff it and polish it out using my Novus kit and despite improving the surface it was dead so now I need to replace the disc. Anyone got it loose (non all stars?)

I tried to buff it and polish it out using my Novus kit and despite improving the surface it was dead so now I need to replace the disc.

I have a 3DO disc (Slam 'n Jam '95) that I just can't get to work. Scratched to shit, but I'm going to give it one last go by taking it to a place not too far from where I stay, where they have a pro buffing machine for CD/DVD. Who knows...I might get lucky.


So, late to the party but finally got my hands yesterday on some 8Bitdo products.

Will try it out just now on the NES and SNES (I think it might work on the Retron 5 as well?).

And I know from a YT vid that CRTGAMER linked to in one of his threads, that I'll be able to use that EMiO stick of mine on an original NES, using the NES receiver via Wiimote.
