Forgive my newbness, but isn't Sierra "just" a publisher?

Capcom is my top. They've beaten the rest when it comes to consistency, quality, and risk taking. They have also kept the quality of their music up, where as other developers have gotten lazy since the introduction of disc media. Yes they milk Megaman, Resident Evil and Street Fighter, but they also put out way more original IPs than anyone like Nintendo or Konami, 95% of which are quite well received critically. They've had me hooked with Megaman 2 and have rarely let me down ever since.

Capcom for consistent quality and quantity.
Team Ico for my favorite game ever(and their namesake game isn't too shabby either; can't wait for the next one).
Nintendo for nostalgia. I'll always enjoy the main Nintendo series'.

I agree with this. Capcom has continuously maintained a level of quality that game companies can really aspire to. While I do enjoy games by companies like Konami, Capcom has always been the best.

A 4th vote for Capcom. Sure RE4/5 were NOT RE games, but I thought they were very good games anyway. Everytime they say Leon, Chris or Umbrella, just replace it with the name of your choice and its like a new game lol. I also thought Lost Planet was one of the better mech oriented games Ive played, next to the Zone of the Enders series.

I'm not looking to start an argument, but I disagree with a few things. It's not that I wish to downplay what a huge, historically important force in gaming Capcom is, but I disagree about their consistentcy. They have put out their fair share of crap games over the years. Also, the so called risk-taking Capcom has also put out more safe, half-assed, uninspired sequels and rehashes than practically any other company in gaming history.

I'm not saying they don't deserve to be on anybody's top list. I just question whether they deserve to be put on a pedestal the way you guys are doing.

Like I said, they rehash. They can rehash all they want. Thats none of my concern. The beauty of it is they are such a massive company that they can simultaniously pump out more unique and enjoyable titles than any other developer. They do both. Rehashing a ton of shit does not downplay their original shit in any way.

And what duds have they put out? Name some.
