Video Game "Look what I found"
Re: Video Game "Look what I found"
It's the '6' that I find interesting. Like someone thought "Is this worth $5...nah, I think I can get a little more for this!"

Re: Video Game "Look what I found"
It's interesting alright and an odd #, but yeah it said $5.99 on the sticker so it was a no brainer even if it was dead for parts but it looked so nice I would have been surprised if it was toast.
$5 system and controller/cables, and like 16-17 each cents for the 6 other parts and the ghetto loose game.
Just found locally Deep Fighter, Crazy Taxi and a 1st party rumble pack for $25 so now I have something I can use it with at least.
I found other games, but it looked like someone walked them over a floor made of sandpaper and broken glass for fun (Rayman 2, Gauntlet, Expendible) and another place was like double the ebay rate on DOA2 and $10 over retail on EGG so I left those behind. Nothing else in this area at all worthwhile in the usual used game shops(other than 1 I couldn't get to today) and the flea market is off limits until it warms up and I don't recall them having much.

DC VGA cable
It's an oldie. Got it really cheap.
I used to recall seeing these on eBay about a decade ago. Yep, it's from that time-frame. Does the job fine, though.

Re: Video Game "Look what I found"
So today I got a bunch of multi-carts for my GameKing and was pleasantly surprised to discover possibly the lowest-fi "port" of Street Fighter 2 ever:

Surprised to discover that it has Ryu, Chunners, Guile, Blanka, Ken and 'Boxer' from the original game as playable characters. Further surprised that it wasn't just a generic attempt to make a crappy one on one fighting game but that it includes real digitised speech from the game and actual special moves!
After recently discovering a "port" of Magician Lord for the handheld. The GameKing continues to surprise and baffle me!
I posted a review on the GameKing section of my blog here: http://www.obsoleteworlds.com/fighter.html
It's still better than the C64 version!

Re: Video Game "Look what I found"
Wow Magician Lord and SF2...NG and CPS1 conversion goodies, impressive.
Today I found something kind of nice in a couple spots. I spent $15 at a goodwill, ended up getting a Dreamcast controller and gray VMU both 1st party, and also an anime box set called Real Bout Highscool. It looked interesting, but found it values around $30-40 which isn't bad with $8 into it if it sucks.
Then at another store I forgot it existed, but I found for $16 for GBC a pinball game, 3D Ultra Pinball Thrillride complete in the box, and it's a rumble cart too. It rates pretty highly as far as GB pinball games go and it's fairly fun. It doesn't really show up online either complete on ebay for sale much so I have no idea what it's really worth.

Re: Video Game "Look what I found"
Here's something fun to compliment one goodwill find...another. It's excessively rare for Goodwill to have anything of interest anymore around here the last 2-3 years so to have 2 hits in a stretch of 10 days is like halleys comet rare or something.

Nintendo 64, 10 games, 4 controllers, 1 4x memory card, all the cables, has the 4MB memory expansion pack too, also got a long stereo (rca) to phones jack cable and a PS2 AC adapter in that all for $20! Last time I pulled a Nintendo game out of a goodwill was 2 years ago, a stack of N64 carts from the same location and nothing since. Very rare/lucky timing to see this.
The Altec Lansings are fantastic, $9 there, they rated 5/5 online most places.
Another goodwill before that had the Dreamcast controller w/VMU for $8. That was the second set of them too. I had gone there maybe 4-5 days earlier and bought one pair already for that, but left it in case someone else wanted it. Happened to still be there so I figured, fair enough, gave others a chance and grabbed the pair. (So $16 for 2 sets of OEM Controllers w/VMUs on two days.)
Not pictured, found a Grandia II perfect guide at half price for $7 which is nice timing.
Not going to lie, the N64 is going up for sale minus Banjo Kazooie as I'm keeping it so I can get more Dreamcast stuff. Contemplating keeping one of those gray controllers too as a back up as I just have one plus an atomic purple (or I'll swap that out for the gray.)
I had intended to keep it but the wife talked me out of it because my kid wasn't showing a big bit of interest. She's nicely(strangely) mostly into 8bit games on the Gameboy/Color and the NES. I figure if she comes around Banjo is waiting and I already have Mario and Kirby which she loves.

Re: Video Game "Look what I found"
Nice catch!
I recently finished playing that other Bond game. Not half bad. Most/all the praise usually goes to Goldeneye, but TWINE is a good game in its own right.

I have a few different types of Altec Lansing PC speakers, and they're all very good.
I always thought that Goldeneye was the better looking game, graphically I mean. Which always seemed weird to me since it was the predecessor, and usually graphics only get better. TWINE always seemed a little blurry to me, even with the Expansion Pak.
I played a lot of TWINE back in the day. It's not a bad game at all, but Goldeneye is still a zillion times better. TWINE might have had a better multiplayer mode though (I say "might" because I still feel like I like Goldeneye multiplayer more, but that may just be due to nostalgia). TWINE multiplayer had bots and more scenarios.Thierry Henry wrote:I recently finished playing that other Bond game. Not half bad. Re: Video Game "Look what I found"
I had found another set of Altecs a few months back but they weren't that hot. They came attached to a sub that was just too boomy with my computer or phone so I'd never get it turned up much...it was like some lame assed trunk based ghetto blaster under my desk. These ones lack that but have a better sound from the speakers alone compared (boom or not.) I agree most anything I've had of theirs are top notch. I have them on the sides of my comfy chair and I'll use it with handheld devices to add some presence to the portable gaming (or my phone for music.)
The Bond game I had back in the day too. It gets a bad wrap just because Goldeneye was well a Rare game and Goldeneye. TWINE is not perfect, the car parts can get a bit annoying but the over all experience of the similar play to Goldeneye I think handles a bit better, but being newer it learned a few things as I'm sure those developers used Goldeneye as a starting point. If I were a N64 player/collector still I'd keep a few of them, but Banjo is it, don't need the rest other than a controller or two which is mainly what I got it for aside from the system I thought my kid could use originally.

I imagine you in something akin to the BBC sitcom 'Goodnight Sweetheart'. Where is the magical Portal that transports you into the past and a Goodwill store that hasn't yet price checked everything on ebay?
