Since tanooki has gotten a dreamcast even I played that bad boy for a bit. To me the sega dreamcast is the last TRUE gaming machine. I mean you put the game in and bam your playing. No DVD or updates or downloads nothing. I now need to pick up a vga adapter and do what noise did with his back in the day. Set up a monitor and get arcade sticks and play it vga hooked up.
The thing is I have to wait to I get extra spending funds. But what I need is this for dreamcast
Some more burned disc. I know it's a bad way to go but I can't really afford the shmups or 2d fighters like I use to.
VGA adapter
2 dreamcast arcade sticks.
The top of my dreamcast is really beat up. Need a new shell.
I'll be playing soul calibur today and street fighter 3rd strike
How is your Dreamcast gaming going on?
Re: How is your Dreamcast gaming going on?
Well I won I yummy lot of Dreamcast games on ebay less than a week ago. Posted for $210 shipped, talked it down to $150 shipped.
http://www.ebay.com/itm/322343365810
Sonic Adventure
Sonic Adventure 2
Jet Grind Radio
Resident Evil Code: Veronica
Crazy Taxi
Rayman 2: The Great Escape
Chu Chu Rocket
Sega Smash Pack Volume 1
Ready 2 Rumble Boxing
Space Channel 5
Gauntlet Legends
Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater 2
Striker Pro 2000
NFL 2K1
NHL 2K
The bottom 4 I don't want, and Crazy Taxi his I'll keep, i have an Allstars I'll sell. He was honest, almost everything was perfect/near perfect both the discs and the shells. A few of the cases are a little cracked here or there, but swapped them with some I already had to keep the best.
I also have Sword of the Berserk in the mail for sometime next week.
If mas does it or someone else, rather not pay someone. I'd love to get a pro looking nice quality copy of Rez, Propeller Arena, and Half Life once more as I used to have those. Beyond that, don't care, I'm fine buying what I like as the prices are from Nintendarded stupid outside of capcom bullet hell junk I don't want.

I need to pull out rayman 2 again. I beat it over 10 years ago. Nice looking game and fun. Sword of the berserk is repetitious. I may need to pull that out also, didn't give it much of a chance. One of those dreamcast games where the people's bodies look and move like pinocchio. Code veronica, got that years ago and never played. Been meaning to start that also.
Re: How is your Dreamcast gaming going on?
Playing through Evil Twin: Cyprien's Chronicles the last few days. Really with this was released over here.fun platformer, love the art style. Guess it must be rare in pal land also because I don't see hardly smy completed ebay listings.
Re: How is your Dreamcast gaming going on?
Sword of the Berserk is awesome in many ways, but the gameplay has aged. Its strong points are the graphics, which are awesome for the time and really bring to life the Berserk universe with the excellent voice work, story and cutscenes (I don't know if anyone else here has read the mangas and seen the anime series). It also has a few QTEs that offer a couple of branching paths in levels, which was neat for the time.
It is mostly criticised for a few main reasons. One is the excessively long cutscenes (I'd say the game is at least 50% cutscenes, 50% gameplay, perhaps even worse). As a fan of the Berserk series and of the game's plot, I don't mind this too much myself. The game game is also fairly short, although there are incentives to replay the game on harder difficulties etc., to unlock different goodies. The main criticism is the game's gameplay which is repetitive fighting, but is fun for what it is. The main problem though, is the huge sword that hits walls constantly and slightly clunky controls. The other problem is the game has really long gaps between checkpoints and doesn't even tell you when you've reached a checkpoint. If you want to save your game, you have to pause the game, select 'quit game' and then save the game when asked if you wish to save. However, when you go back to load the game, it will load from the last checkpoint which could be ages ago (and as I said, the game doesn't even tell you where the checkpoints are). I swear there's only actually 2 or 3 in the game.

Re: How is your Dreamcast gaming going on?
It's super rare in PAL land. I did have a chance to pick it up for about £30 years back and I kinda regret I didn't now I see the prices it goes for on Ebay. I played it years ago with a ripped copy and it was pretty neat. It seemed flawed in places and a bit mediocre at times, but it had lots of charm and the art style was cool.stickem wrote:Playing through Evil Twin: Cyprien's Chronicles the last few days. Re: How is your Dreamcast gaming going on?
I remember that about berserk but it has more than 2-3 checkpoints. Sure it probably is a nearly 50/50 split on the sequences, but it makes the game make sense and would otherwise by a C grade cheap hack and slash with no agenda or purpose. Berserk I know I saw the big animated movie about it back in the day, but never read the books. I know if I ever saw a stack of them (hopefully all, or at least many from 1-?) I'd buy it for the read as I'm into manga for awhile now. I know it's a slasher with similar motions, Starfox Adventures got the same crap over the similar staff mechanics...it doesn't bother me.
So I tried out Space Channel 5 for the first time a few hours ago, started to get a bit infuriating. It's like this really fucked up version of Simon and I can't always remember the moves once it's like over 7-8 of them. That's rarely the issue, but what gets me is that there are no prompts, NOTHING for when you have to tap out a sequence. I can recall the pattern but I still get groans and many misses as it's like anally retentive about timing. I know the game had a sequel, going to look it up and see if they fixed that crap as it may explain why the game usually sat and still does sit in the $5-10 bin.
Also never owned this version of the Smash Pack. Nice seeing Swirl on there, and also Virtua Cop 2 (Saturn right?) and it works with a controller ok enough I guess. I wonder if that would take a plugged in mouse? Clearly can not use a light gun on a non CRT.

Re: How is your Dreamcast gaming going on?
Do you know just a thought and I talked to tanooki on this but it was because of the dreamcast that brought me to Racketboy. That and I think the Xbox columns.
Re: How is your Dreamcast gaming going on?
It was the Dreamcast and saturn for me. I believe I was checking on the crap mod chips that came from here, bought one, and then of course never worked lol.
Re: How is your Dreamcast gaming going on?
That same conversation had me thinking it very well may have been the same for me too. I was thinking way way back looking up stuff as DC only had a good 2-3yr run and it was hard to find news, coverage, missed goodies, how to on certain gray area stuff and other odds and ends as DC fanboy sites turned tail and bailed too. Sure I didn't get on the forums until years later but I remember reading some of them, and the system specific stuff.
This place used to be a great resource on the web page side for stuff. I was poking a stick at the DC area earlier and so much of it needs help. Lots of dead links to reviews that no longer exist on other sites and so on.
