I know that I am a DC fanboy... but I have to highly recommend Deathstroke: Rebirth. This series is exactly what you want from a character that has been overused to the point of losing the characterization that drew us all to him originally.

Christopher Priest deserves tons of credit for this Rebirth success and since his run on Black Panther is considered the gold star standard for the character I hope he can bring Deathstroke back to his "Terminator" days.

Now, issue 9 just came out yesterday and my recommendation is based on the first 6 issues - the fight between him and Batman is exactly what you would expect a battle of expert strategists.

is that the 2004 series?

I started reading the new new Punisher this week actually with the latest issue (#7) as it was also a #1 for a new story line. Speaking of glorious glorious violence and gore, there is a very long bar fight (bar mass-murder?) that is just amazing.

So guys, can I have your opinions on X-Men '92 please?

I LOVED the 90s animated series (got them all on dvd [minus the abysmal 5th season] and still watch them every now and again. I also loved the 90s comics, 'cause that's what I grew up with, since I was born late 80s.

I notice the vol 0 and vol 1 trade paperbacks are reasonable on Amazon right now and I've been flirting with the idea of giving the series a read, but the mediocre and less than stellar reviews have really put me off. Is it really that bad? A lot of people have a lot of praise for the series, but then there's also a lot of people who poo-poo it, saying the story is uninteresting and the whole thing feels like a bad parody.

I got X-Men 92 Vol 0 for X-Mas, but haven't read it yet.

Volume 1 (issues 1-5) is fantastic, though. Totally recommend it.

Volume 2 (issues 6-10) is less good. It's not bad, but it's really unfocused. More like 6-9 attempt a story and then abandon and just goes off rails in #10 since the series came to a sudden end.

If you enjoyed 90's X-Men and the TV show, totally read volume 1.
