Is the Xbox really worth it?

I recently found out that The Elder Scrolls III: Morrowind - Game of the Year Edition was on the Xbox. This enticed me to take a look at the list of Xbox games. I had always thought that the Xbox had practically no RPG's and was mostly for jocks who love to "shoot shit to death until it died" and I was pleasantly surprised to find that it not only had some very good RPG's but some none Halo-clone first person shooters that were actually fun.

Now I'm just wondering, is it really worth it to buy an Xbox just for these games?

Boy are you gonna get some flack for calling Psychonauts shovelware . A xbox is totally worth it, they do great things when modded, have a very good game selection even though many don't realize it, and have the best of all the multiplatform games.

The Xbox 1 isn't worth it. Most of it's titles were watered down PC ports (Far Cry and Half-Life 2 being the best examples).

Also, you're a horrible, horrible person for calling Psyconauts shovelware.

An Xbox is great fun, for playing emulators on a TV, and using as a media center.

A lot of those games can be played on the PC. But there are still plenty of others that make an Xbox worth owning. I really enjoyed Otogi, Panzer Dragoon Orta, Beyond Good and Evil, and Crimson Skies. Castlevania: Curse of Darkness wasn't too bad either.

Ninja Gaiden Black deserves special mention. I suppose people can get the Sigma version for PS3 now, but I found it a demanding and enjoyable experience.

I enjoyed playing Co-op Halo 1+2 with my brother, even if those games do get a lot of hate.

Yeah, it's worth it as mentioned before it's great game selection, modding, and cheap price are enough to justify a purchase.. heck the game lineup is enough in itself..

It has some great titles and has best versions of multiplatform games in terms of visuals ..

In terms of exclusive titles the only ones that ever intruiged me for the Xbox were Panzer Dragoon Orta and Steel Battalion. I ended up picking up a couple others to justify the purchase (I really wanted Steel Battalion), and I've found Gladius to be pretty good. But many of the Xbox's titles were either PC games or games that are in genres better left to the PC (Halo).

actually there are great games for the original xbox, but depends if you got a ps2 and a gaming pc then you won't find much exclusives.

I hear you can make them do amazing stuff like emulation and more by modding. Its stable as far as I hear, and no RROD!

I say go for it, depending on your collection, if you got ps2 and 360(bc) for example, not much reason to buy the original

I don't own one, but I have crawled a lot of racketboy articles and best of-lists, desperately searching for any justification for NOT buying an XBox just for Panzer Dragoon Orta.

But if you've already found a dozen or so interesting titles, why not? I think that is a fair enough amount of games. I do not own more games for most of my current systems either.

Edit: Otogi does look kind of interesting, though.

are you fckn kidding me???? is it worth it!!!! I currently have over 80 games for that system and because I found the articles from racketboy I am very happy with my xbox. Grant it the wrestling games suck if your a wrestling fan and the fighting genre is weak compared to ps2 if you like fighting games BUT it did come out with awesome titles just read racketboys articles about the xbox and I'm sure you will be like me and one more thing i did sell my pschyonauts about 4 weeks ago and when i went to the store to check out some xbox title i saw someone get so excited about picking up the game i just got rid of i relized i made a huge mistake luckally i found a copy for 4 dollars on ebay so if that game does suck so much why is everybody on this site have so much love for that game buddy you tell me but to answer your question hell yeah its worth it

Games that define a generation and influence many to come = Halo & Psychonauts.
